8. Transcipt of audio below.
Dispatcher: " . . . a shooting at the Safeway at Oracle and Ina. A man with a semi-automatic weapon. Units responding advise."

(Numerous deputies begin to give call numbers; sirens blaring in background.)

Dispatcher: "Callers are reporting a shooting of a semi-automatic weapon. He shot at people. And he was last seen headed toward the Walgreens. He ran northbound out of the store wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, and, uh, we have a caller who believes that Gabrielle Giffords was shot. That's, uh, multiple victims - sounds like many people are shot."

Deputy: "Start calling out, uh, small unit tactics (and other responders) . . . "

Dispatcher: "All units respond to the shooting, uh, suspects, I mean, let me rephrase, customers have tackled the suspect. They are holding him down at the Safeway."

(Sirens, more units report in.)

Dispatcher: "Code 3." (Code signals responding deputies to use lights and sirens.)

Deputy: "Inside or outside the store?"

Dispatcher: "Uh, they are outside in front of the store."

Deputy (on scene): "661. 661. He does not have the gun on him. It's in the crowd somewhere . . . Have a (Med-evac) sent as well."

Deputy: "518 . . . Send multiple med units. People down. I'm counting at least 10."

Dispatcher: "Requesting additional units."

Deputy: "How many victims do we have?"

Deputy (breathing heavily): "There are multiple victims. We need a lot more units here."

Deputy: "518. Start every ambulance we have out here."

Dispatcher: "And fire (department) is sending, uh, everything they have."

Deputy: "Shut down all the entrances to this (inaudible) mall."

Deputy: "We have at least 7, 8, maybe 10 gunshot victims here. We're going to need (police backup from numerous surrounding agencies) as well . . . "

Deputy: "I need robbery and assault detectives called out. Please advise them multiple, multiple victims. You might as well advise them to start (inaudible). We're going to close Ina and Oracle, and I need more units down here to shut down various entrances."

Deputy: "You might want to go and start Rural Metro (Fire Department) now . . . We're really short on medical personnel."

Deputy: "Do we have any (inaudible) units or search-and-rescue units? I need as many people out here as possible."
