I think many will see him as a radical or a crack pot - but personally, I think everything he said was pretty accurate.

5. I totally recommend tearing up your yard and planting your own

veggies -- especially tomatoes. And you can get big pots or make a raised bed and garden in a space that you might think could not be used for gardening.

Gardening is not just healthy because of the food you produce. It is gentle to the soul, rewarding and a great release from stress.

I'm hoping to somehow figure out how to install a little drip gardening system for my veggies this year. That's just a hope, not a promise.

I think that more Americans will be planting just a few things.

As I said, start with tomatoes. Once you taste fresh tomatoes grown in your own garden, you will be hooked. And you can grow the small tomatoes plants in a big, big pot on your patio if you have one. Check out the seed catalogues and gardening supply places on the internet.

If Jared Loughner had started a garden, his mental health would have improved, I suspect.
