In George W. Bush’s new memoir – Decision Points – and in subsequent interviews, the former president admits that he authorized torture techniques such as waterboarding during his time in office. And even though this admission stirred up media outlets, the admission disappeared almost as quickly as it surfaced. But Congressman Jerrold Nadler believes that this admission should spark a wave of prosecutions, and he recently spoke with Bobby Kennedy about what needs to be done now that this information is out in the open.

1. Waterboader is legal cuz lawyers said so??? Good lord....
Why are some crimes ok? Why are some people able to legally be criminals? Cuz the lawyers running this country say so? This country needs an independent citizens oversight organization....

7. I don't think that even Bush was stupid enough to believe that
something is legal just because a lawyer writes a memo saying it is. Even Bush had to know that courts decide what is legal, not the lawyers on their own.

3. Rep. Nadler has a history of speaking out on subjects that other
representatives are afraid to address. I admire him so much.

4. War Crimes
Letting the Bush White House Criminals walk free among us is a crime against all humanity and our children's future.

It has been codified, laws are just for the little people. Powerful people are free to commit crimes that have magnitudes measured in trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives.

I think the rest of the world is developing something other than World War to hold the US excesses in check and minimize them. Our repeated bad and irresponsible behavior is screwing up the rest of the world along with our country. I doubt the rest of the world can tolerate being chained with the damage of A Country with a ruling class drunk with excessive power and using it like a 14 year old uses the parents liquor cabinet when mom and dad are out.

9. The scariest thing about this issue, to me, is the acquiesence
of the American people. Too many regular Americans, who before would have abhorred torture, are now saying it's OK as long as the president assures us the torturees are bad. This gives the government and future government license to continue it. You think these guys were the last guys the US will torture? Certainly the next Republican administration will be OK with it.
