6. Great...but...
A couple of thoughts....

A: I really like Biden and agree, he would be a wonderful Pres.

B: It was fine and dandy for Warner to ask Petraeus if the surge is making America safer, but he is asking the wrong person. He needs to ask GWB, and when GWB says yes, as you know he will, ask him to explain, and don't let him get away with his usual BS. Make him give a valid answer to the question (which everyone knows is impossible, because it's not).

C: Matthews seems to have finally reached his limit with GWB. Up until recently, and I had quit watching him a couple of years ago, every time I saw him, he seemed sympathetic to GWB. Lately, he seems fed up with the war, and is being none too subtle about it.

Just a few random thoughts after watching this vidie...

7. Yes, that was the wrong person
As Matthews said, Petraeus is not the policy-maker, Bush is. Bush just used Petraeus to take the bullet for him.

Matthews has evolved a lot the last two years, but he's always been against the war. Now he is just fed up with Bush!

9. I wonder how Bsh is going to come out and lie to us later this week.
Especially after Petreaus wouldn't say that we are now safer.

Alot was accomplished in those hearings.

10. Thanks for the update...
Like I said, I had quit watching him some time ago. Now that I think back, I think more than him (though he was certainly part of my decision), it was the guest he invited, they seemed to be moving toward the right at an alarming pace. Since my time is very limited, and I had found KO, I quit watching. Looks like I may have you put him back on the Tivo.

13. Once and a while he'll still
have someone on like (yuck) Ron Christie and I have to fast-forward through it. Ed Rogers used to be on a lot (whiny!) but I rarely ever see him anymore.

Also the David Shuster segments are better than ever.

Biden seems to have a more realistic view of foreign policy than all the other candidates combined. Too bad he's so low in the polls.

17. Get this on the "mainstream media".....
Get this interview out to the masses! Cable subscribers are a fraction of what is out there. I don't think Biden should be the next president by any means, although he would be fine, but he does speak the message. The people have to hear it. These young soldiers are dying for NOTHING!! I am a Vietnam vet. I watched DAILY as these young soldiers died for NOTHING.

Wake up America!! Get your head out of your ass and wake up. This is doing NO GOOD!! These poor troops are being blown away for nothing. America is NO safer. Iraq will fall, and we keep tossing American lives into the fire while we wait. God!!...I hate war!

I knew I was dead when I went to Vietnam. I am so grateful to be alive and have made it, even though it took a land mine to get me home. I swore I wouldn't watch us do this again, and here we go.

19. I think Tweety's finally "got religion" about "His Incompetency"
That, plus KO's ratings are swinging everybody to the left. But I think Tweety's really had it with the hypocrisy and disregard for the law. He's not dumb--but he is a Centrist. A lot of them are waking up finally--three years too late.

20. I think they are finally getting it
I remember many times hearing Matthews guests saying of a particular issue, "people outside the beltway aren't following this story and aren't concerned", etc. Well I'd then yell at the TV, "I'm following it! I care!" Then I wonder, who do they think is watching the show? Just beltway insiders?

28. Tweety has been excellent for 2 weeks now. I hold my breath each day
expecting him to talk about Fred's manly smell or some such nonsense but no.

Last night some right wing talker tried to change the subject and he hit him direct on. "I'm not interested in your talking points about withdrawing troops next year. I'm talking about the testimony today that the head guy in Iraq doesn't know if the war is making us safer." The guy look shamed.

Tweety still talks too much but I do think he's getting his lead from KO. Can't argue with success.

23. OMG, Can't stand this! It's Chris Matthews interviewing Chris Matthews!
Seriously, over half of the time Matthews was rattling on and on and he didn't let Biden speak. He cut him off repeatedly to get into a fake, phony rant, himself. What was up with that? It was like he was in a trance. I'm sure Biden didn't know what to think of it either. Isn't he supposed to be 'impartial' as a host? :eyes:

If Biden has so much expertise on Iraq, why did he vote to go invade it in the first place?

25. Nonsense. They all knew Bush was lying- or they could have known, by checking the facts,
but they didn't. They voted FOR the invasion because they thought it would help their political careers. And in the very rare case they did not, they have extremely bad judgment and shouldn't be president anyway. Dennis Kucinich knew better than to support an illegal invasion.

30. Another good performance by Biden.. BUT
I'll admit that Biden serves a purpose. He can talk up a storm like no other, But..

Please...

Shut the fuck up with the sixty seven votes bullshit! Shut the fuck up!

All these cowards (and that includes Joey here) need to do is not send a fucking bill!

Don't send a funding bill until the President agrees to leave Iraq.

Sixty Seven votes my ass.

Until he decides to tell the truth about this- all his big talk is worth jack shit.

He is complicit.

31. Barbara Boxer was on Randi Rhodes today
and she said similar things. I wish I could remember exactly how she said it, but it was clear that this is not as easy as we think. So now they're pushing for the Webb bill which would require soldiers to have more time off between deployments. That would work better than defunding, as it would decrease the troops whether Bush liked it or not. They need 60 votes to get it on the president's desk and 67 to override his inevitable veto. Right now they think they have 59. Randi said people should start calling their republican senators, not the Dems, if they want to see any results.

32. Well, as may be obvious by my post,
my patience has expired.

I just simply don't buy the sixty seven vote bullshit. Or the sixty vote bullshit. And I don't buy it if Boxer says it, or if Biden says it, or if the Easter Bunny says it. I. Don't. Buy. It.

Don't send a bill. That's it. That simple. Boxer and Biden, and maybe the whole Democratic caucus, may not like the political or institutional consequences of that. Well boo fuckin' hoo. They need to stop lying to us. They can stop the war; they just don't want to do what it would take, for a variety of reasons.

Cowards.

38. EMOTION!!!!!!!
Thank you Senator Biden. No more protocol. No more perfunctory statements in deference to the office of the President. No more standing by silently because we don't have the votes.

Put it out there. Do your best, and don't be afraid to weep for what Bush has made of this country.

This is the beginning of the end.

Godspeed, Senator.

I realized I had suppressed my emotions about the war. I knew they were there, but I did not allow them to surface, choosing to be outraged and angry instead. I think this interview brought out emotions for many people and it is long overdue.
