Ken Feinberg has been slow to make payments to the victims of the BP oil spill, and local and national officials are losing their patience with him. Mike Papantonio and Ed Schultz discuss Feinberg's latest actions, which resemble the predatory practices of Wall Street more than those of a consumer advocate.

1. Papantonio is right.
Rest assured, the companies have done their risk/benefit analysis. If they are rushing to settle, it means they don't want to face a jury because they are pretty certain that a jury verdict will take the shirts off their backs.

Feinburg is acting like an agent of the bad guys. I thought he was supposed to be independent. He is doing the bad guys' bidding. No company settles a case it thinks it can win this early in the game.

If the companies are trying to silence the plaintiffs and potential plaintiffs, trying to get them to waive their rights this early, it means that the companies know they are in terrible trouble.

Obama needs to reign Feinburg in. He needs to set him straight on this. If Obama does not act on this, just about 2012, people will be hungry and hurting, and Obama will be blamed.
