2. This gentleman...is....FULL OF FUCKING _WIN_
8 minutes well-spent. Like some of the better OPs at DU, his message covers just a whole bunch of different aspects of the situation we're in, but ties it all up into one coherent message.

And for choosing such fine like minded individuals to take such good care of us.
We really needed this help from you, and you delivered for your base, the good important Americans.

9. When health care reform was first proposed
we needed to consider every possible alternative. Because the cost of health care and insurance in this nation was unsustainable. What happened? The HCR commission first and foremost said there would be no discussion of 'single payer'. Single payer was THE only possible way to get costs under control while continuing to provide decent health care for the American citizen. We didn't even discuss it. We didn't even discuss it because it would have sounded "too good" to most Americans. Now because we didn't adopt single payer, or even some sort of 'public option' we will now face crushing cuts in medicare. And make no mistake, the cuts are coming.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the way they are using the media and misinformation to tell the American people that there really isn't any alternative to the Cat Food Commission's recommendations. And there is no mention that the social security contributions were spent on tax cuts for millionaires and two unnecessary wars of choice.

12. Class Warfare...
It isn't Republican vs Democrat. Too many rich Democrats in bed with corporations for that.
It isn't Conservative vs Liberal. There's an entire spectrum of views connecting one extreme to the other.
It isn't Right vs Left. That's just another version of Conservative vs Liberal.
And what the hell is a progressive, anyway? I suspect it's just a liberal who's abandoning a label that, like the labels "socialism" and "intellectual," has been turned into a perjorative.

The battle is what the battle always has been: Rich vs Poor; Powerful vs Weak; Few vs Many.

16. The truth: we cannot afford to have both the middle class AND the rich
The President and government officials, the courts, the corporations, the media have all made their choice about who is to die.

Which one will you choose to side with in the coming days?

Google's tax rate is 2.4%

This guy reminds me of Jack Nicholson. Nice rank! As Obama said, the only thing standing between the banksters and the pitchforks is Obama.

18. WOW... JUST WOW! Where Does the Line Begin? I've Been Ready For
quite some time now. Jack Nicholson #2! I almost thought I was listening to him while I was watching this. Only difference, HE was REAL, Jack was acting!

This sure makes my heart ache. We should have been doing something BEFORE it got to this point. Not only did I see his ANGER, I KNOW his anger! We can't just keep watching from the sidelines, they're going to ROB US BLIND, and then it will be TOO LATE!

We NEED a leader to start a real movement, uprising or whatever it could be called, but we REALLY DO NEED IT. Sitting here typing in front of a screen isn't doing ANYTHING. I AM so afraid! I'm no youngster but I've been having horrible dreams of late. Dreams that MUST be connected to how I'm feeling, but are being projected by past life experiences. The problem though is that the past life experiences were good, but now have morphed into situation like my father beating me. He never ever did anything like that. And yet, the good past is turning into the monsters in my dreams.

Could just be a bad period of time right now, but the dreams are so very real AND BAD! I'm sure it doesn't mean much to anyone else, but it's been on my mind a lot.

I AM AFRAID and I don't want to be. I'm grown up now, I should be able to deal with this better.

21. Step up to the microphone, ChiciB1, we will rally behind you
You are our leader. Or you should be because you have some great ideas.

On the subject of dreams turning into nightmares, I think that's the waking reality for a majority of Americans today. Some are too proud to admit it, some are too busy working two or more jobs to have time to even think. What could anyone do if, on some chosen day, 40 to 120 million Americans took to the streets and demanded an end to us supporting the rich and the corporations, an end to the Capitalist ponzi scheme, an end to the failed religion of TRICKLE DOWN.

We Americans can no longer afford to support the rich who take and take and take but never seem to be willing to give back to the working people who made their life of luxury possible.

22. Would That I Could Be A Leader. So MANY, MANY People Here Are
FULL of great and wonderful ideas. So many who have much more knowledge and I dare say "time" to initiate a movement of some kind. I WILL gladly join and do my part to PUSH FORWARD, because it's past time to START. I wholeheartedly agree that a majority of Americans are waking to the "reality" of THE NIGHTMARE. So many feel hopeless and even more HELPLESS as they look off into the horizon and see a hurricane coming, and not knowing HOW to stop it!

Whether it's because they are too busy looking for work, or working too many jobs to keep their lives from falling apart. I just spent TWO hours this morning talking with my daughter about this very same thing, each of us arguing about what I could do. Last night, my husband who is NO activist, commenced to tell me that I'm TOO consumed with all this stuff because "others" see all this and NOTHING is getting done! I say, "so YOU just want to WAIT for the hurricane, then pick up the pieces?" His answer is YES, because I waste too much time sitting in front of this PC blabbing and furthermore I have "work" here to do! I can't tell you how FRUSTRATING these comments make me.

While I totally agree with this man and his message... HOW he's presenting it is a bit too harsh, but I understand where the rage comes from. I understand he's using rage to ignite people into action, but many might say he's close to the edge of becoming unhinged. Certainly his rage is justified, and I myself will have to admit to going off in rants as he did. It's become common to so many of us today and we WILL be run over if we DO keep sitting here in front of our PC's.

I have one idea that I have been thinking about for a while now, and perhaps it's been done here at DU before, I don't know. But it's this. Perhaps a person here could start a thread asking members what THEY think "we the people" can do to stop the onslaught, there might be some viable options presented. There might be a way forward to start the process of a movement.

As it is, you apparently live in Texas and I live in Florida... we can only communicate in certain ways. I've even tried to get people together to meet just ONE night a week to discuss this situation and failed miserably. At most I got 15 people initially and then it got worse. I live in a Ruby Red county in a state that is run by Repukes. I also kind of grew up in Texas, so I know how it is there, save for Austin.

Then I think of Cindy Sheehan and what she tried to do and where she ended up. And boy did she have a following! She lost a lot, not only her son but her husband too.

There are rumblings afoot, but will it be too late before the hurricane hits? I wonder all the time and have my nightmares all the while.

And all I just wrote sounds like a cop out, but that's NOT where my heart is. I've heard it said that one man/woman have succeeded to reaching higher goals, but it's not the norm. It HAS been done though. So, should we start that thread to get input? And if it dies like so many here do, then what?

I'm sorry for being so negative, it's just that I too feel helpless, but I want to see us come together as a nation and say NO MORE... ENOUGH! As a Boomer, I once saw it in action, but you can't go back and do the same thing, it has to be something of THIS AGE, of THIS generation, and it does need to start YESTERDAY!

19. Too late to rec, so here's a kick.
The corporate elites ignore the growing anger of the middle class at their own peril. Too much more of this & their division tactics, left vs right, liberal vs conservative, aren't going to work.

23. Several things have me flummoxed:
The middle class spends the money they earn, so generally speaking it is good to have a strong middle class to keep the consumer system going. Why are the "powers that be" destroying the middle class? Doesn't seem logical.

I always thought the older population should retire early and allow younger people to take the jobs and pay SSI and taxes to keep the country running. But the opposite is happening with a higher retirement age the openings for younger workers are less, generally of course. It seems backasswards.

Same basically for medical care. Let people retire, they will be less stressed and not need as much medical care, generally again. The younger workers will be paying into the system and support it until they need it later, like SSI.

Older population will always continue to be consumers for products though different items than younger people but they will be consumers.
There are other factors that confuse me about how the rich and the government are basically screwing the middle class of our country, but that is enough for now.
The whole thing seems to be a scam, doesn't it?

He meant,"I hope you don't mind giving all your change to the oligarchs."
