1. "If this president can't do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else."

2. All they have to do is to start standing up to Republicans
NOT reaching across the aisle. Fighting to keep hands off SS, to end the Bush tax cuts, cut the military budget, end DADT. They can do a lot of this in the lame duck session.

But Soros is simply expressing what many people have been saying. The party led by the WH is not fighting for those who elected them. If they had done that, they would not have lost the election.

Congress is where people should put their energy and money now. I think maybe that's what he meant also. Get more progressive candidates and fund them. The Party did not support some of the real progressive candidates in this last election. So we have to do it.

3. Hi Sabrina. He could have meant congress & could have also meant organizations like Brock's one...
Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 11:58 PM by Turborama
...that was discussed here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=517401&mesg_id=517401">Gearing up: David Brock to launch outside group for 2012

I don't like the way everyone's jumping on this as if it means Soros wants President Obama to be primaried. It's reminiscent of how everyone jumped on ACORN when that 'scandal' first broke. There's too much knee-jerking and not enough reading between the lines going on, again.

I want to hear what Soros himself has to say about this.

Michael Vachon, an adviser to Soros, did not dispute the comment, though he stressed that there was no transcript of a private gathering to check. Vachon also clarified that the longtime progressive giver was not referring to a primary challenge to the president.

"Mr. Soros fully supports the president as the leader of the Democratic Party," said Vachon. "He was not suggesting that we seek another candidate for 2012. His comments were made in a private, informal conversation that was about the need for progressives to be more forceful in promoting their agenda. He was stressing the importance of being heard by elected officials."

4. I agree, Turborama, people jump to conclusions as they did with
Helen Thomas also, allowing swum like Ari Fleischer to define what she meant. Most rational people understood what she meant, but these operatives move in quickly, interpret something they know will harm those they hate before people get a chance to make up their own minds.

Their goal is to destroy progressivism in this country and people should always keep that in mind when they hear something that doesn't sound right.

I'll take Soros' and Helen's own words for what they meant, I think they are very capable of speaking for themselves.

They hate Soros because he'e willing to do things, like they have done, to help the left.
