1. Perfectly handled
Notice how Cuomo anticipates Novak's counter and shuts it down.
You never accuse someone of racism - that would be tantamount to reading someone's mind
and knowing their intentions, which weakens your position since they can now come back
after you for it (as Novak was about to).

Rather, you always point to the facts.
"I'm not saying you're a racist. I'm saying that what you said was racist."
