Lawrence O'Donnell brings the heat on Ron Paul - apparently he wants to protect Social Security only 'temporarily' - 'it will abolish itself' and 'the TRUE progressive understands what I'm saying...'

O'Donnell holds Pauls squirming feet to the fire over segregation - you can really start to see that Ron Paul harbors identical views on segregation laws to his son re: restaurants, etc. He just doesn't like other people pointing them out. He dances around his views so much in this interview, he ought to be partnering with Bristol Palin on 'Dancing with the 'Stars'

1. kudos to him for his 'end the wars' stance... the rest is just weak sauce avoidance chatter

it is obvious he won't say what he really means on medicare & social security... he just wants to get by with a wink and a nod about it until he can see it abolished entirely

3. Kudos for the anti-war stance and on term limits

10. Think... With term limits we will never have elder statesmen. Where will the wisdom be?

4. I really hadn't paid much attention to him, but watched his performance
on Lawrence O'Donnell's show last night. What struck me is just how addled he is. When O'Donnell read him quotes of his (Paul's) own statements on Medicare, Paul attempted to play the old 'taken out of context' meme. When that didn't work he retreated into a gushing of word salad that made Palin look like an M.I.T. graduate. Honestly. He was babbling on and on about how "personal property rights" somehow had something to do with freedom of speech, and how although he was on record as saying that Medicare should be phased out, he didn't 'mean' that Medicare would be phased out. He may have his lucid moments but watching him was a revelation - he's a true train wreck with a thought process similar to one of Beck's chalboard exposes. A real nut.

6. to be fair to the man
The quote u speak of is the interpretation of his son's quote by his political opponent and just like during the primaries with Bill Clinton and Hillary, Ron is not there to speak for his son or his son here to speak for him. Also he did not say anything about private property in the video posted on DU. But like the weasel he is, he will deny calling for the end of social security. Especially when he believes its unconstitutional.

5. Every issue I strongly agree with him is balanced out by at least one I
strongley disagree with. He right about the war and WRONG as fucking hell about health care. If he'd keep his mouth shut about 60% of the time he'd seem so reasonable.

12. My neocon chickenhawk dad feels the same way but for the wrong reasons

He likes RP's bare knuckled capitalism and disdain for the working class and poor, but says he has some ideas that are "ABSOLUUUTELY CRRAAAZY" ( he said it with pained vehemence ) My interest piqued by my dad's passionate outburst; I asked him to clarify what about him is so crazy he doesn't like: Basically his opposition to the Iraq/Afghanistan wars he says. Sheesh.

I guess we cancel each other out, I told him.

7. Talk about flip flopping!
I'm for term limits... wait... no, term limits may not be such a good idea...

Make up your mind, Ron.

I am curious about the supposed promises that were made about the interview. Was there a miscommunication at MSNBC, or did Paul's staff screw up, or was Paul simply full of it?

8. Private property rights = freedom. And people need to wean off of Social Security, before
Social Security (and Medicare) is yanked away. The American way.

13. i dont care what anyone says i love RP
you can watch someone like Lawrence O'Donnell try to smear him and indeed his views are a bit 'out-there' but if you really listen to what he has to say, he knows what hes talking about

14. Knowing he believes what he says is not the same as knowing why or being right.
