1. Let the USPS charge $5 to send a letter, they'll make a profit too.
Or conversely, limit the amount FedEx and UPS charges for their services to be at par with the USPS, and require them to deliver to every zip code like the USPS, they wouldn't make a profit either.

2. Interesting.
The one person I know personally who works for the USPO has his masters in education. He also holds a second job in a restaurant at night. He's hardly unskilled. Most of these people went to work for the PO b/c it was a good solid job with benefits - NOT because they couldn't do anything else.

5. One of my best friends, graduate from an absolute top top-tier
university volunteered as a Marine office in Vietnam and came back with PTSD - he went to work for the USPS and made a decent career out of it. These snide racist platitudes from these Refucks just make my blood boil.:argh: :grr: :grr:

3. I had to laugh
when these chumps brought up ups in the middle of their anti-union rant. I work for ups and it is a 100% union (teamsters) shop.

4. You know who thought the federal government should ensure postal communication
all over the country? The founding fathers.

6. Ben Franklin, specifically
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Postal_Service

Franklin also invented the lightning rod, public library, bifocals, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, the first fire department in Pennsylvania. He was the first ambassador to France.

He was a successful newspaper publisher and editor, and published Poor Richard's Almanac.

He was Postmaster General under the Continental Congress, and governor of Pennsylvania.

Toward the end of his life he became one of the most prominent abolitionists.

7. Only the rich should be able to send letters!
That's what they want. Break the unions. Turn working people into slaves. Who cares if regular people can't afford to send letters or boxes of cookies to their relatives?

Oh, by the way, to get a job with the Post Office, you have to pass a test. And you know none of those assholes could do it.

8. I'd hate to be chewed out by somebody as blunt as D'Amato
. . . especially when he's right and I'm wrong.
