Christine O'Donnell Hit With FEC Complaint Alleging She Used Campaign Funds To Pay Rent

A government watchdog group says Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell used campaign funds to pay her rent and other personal expenses.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has filed a complaint against O'Donnell with the Federal Elections Commission and is asking federal prosecutors to investigate her.

The complaint is based largely on a sworn statement by O'Donnell's former campaign finance consultant, David Keegan. He says O'Donnell used campaign funds to pay her rent in both March and April 2009, then listed the spending as "reimbursement expenses."

The complaint also accuses O'Donnell of using campaign funds to pay for gas, meals and a bowling outing.

"Christine O'Donnell is clearly a criminal, and like any crook she should be prosecuted," explained CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan in a statement. "Ms. O'Donnell has spent years embezzling money from her campaign to cover her personal expenses. Republicans and Democrats don't agree on much these days, but both sides should agree on one point: thieves belong in jail not the United States Senate."

Sloan added, "If you need money to pay the rent and eat, you get a job; you don't start a Senate campaign so unsuspecting donors can support you."

Cooper: Even if there is cause its a tough call because it looks political....

Yeah Anderson, tell that to Don Siegelman. You think Repugs care about what looks political?

7. Cooper tried to associate himself with the "librul media" in the interview.
CNN has become Faux Snooze Lite.

I guess if you use Faux Snooze as your baseline for news objectivity, just about every media look liberal.

3. anderson--so fucking what if it looks political? Is that enough of an excuse
to not do one's job? Because it might look political?

That is some weak sauce bullshit and evidence that you are not
a serious journalist like you're trying to fake everyone into believing
you are.

Lying on federal tax forms is a crime.
Using campaign funds to pay for your existence when not in a campaign and not declaring the
income on your taxes is a crime.

Just because xtine stepford-palin looks like mooselini, is young and loud-mouthed does not
mean that she is above the law--and certainly, just because she is a woman doesn't mean
that the law does not apply to her. If this was Cynthia McKinney and not xtine stepford-palin, you can best believe
that all of DC would have been breaking down the door to the justice department because
they hadn't already charged her with a crime.

8. STOP PICKING ON CHRISTINE O'DONNELL! Her automotive habits are none of your business!
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 10:01 AM by breadandwine

So what if she double billed her campaign for gas and mileage when the campaign was already over and she has no car!

Don't criticize her for THAT!

That is so UNFAIR!

You just don't UNDERSTAND her.

And DON'T call her Christine Odometer!

9. I never fail to be astounded as what a tool Anderson Cooper
is. It pains him to see any Rethug in trouble, and he always adds his little bit to the controversy on the side of downplaying whatever it is the Rethug is accused of. Case in point here.

10. I dont know what all your problem is with Cooper
I thought he did a real good job on this interview. He basically asked the questions a independent person would want answers too. He said O'Donnell supporters will just say its a smear tactic and gave her a chance to show it wasnt. Then he even said her group asked a Dem to step down before.

11. Hey, Christine! In the language of your own Tea Bagger logic...
"If you've done nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide."

Right?
