Whitman's big promise is to cut the waste, the fat in government.
But, think of it, except for the four years that Gray Davis was governor, we have had only Republican governors for something like 20 of the past 24 years.
As a candidate, the Republicans predictably promised to cut the fat in government. Along comes the next Republican candidate for governor and "I'm going to cut the fat in government."
If three of the past four governors were Republicans, and if all of them promised to cut the fat in government when they were running -- how could there be any fat left to cut?
So, what fat is Meg Whitman planning to cut? The fat the last Republican governor (Schwarzenegger) promised to cut but didn't?
Do you understand what Meg Whitman is promising to cut? I really don't.
Someone should ask her to state specifically what fat Schwarzenegger left for her to cut, and how, if the last Republican couldn't cut that fat, she plans to do it.
