Ay, oy, ugh. He MUST share Reverend Wrights beliefs and ideology! Oh wait, no, he is a Muslim!

The way GOPers/Tea Partiers twist themselves into the most convoluted and silly contradiction in order to try to demonize Obama would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

4. OMG, that was hilarious!
Interviewer: What woke you up?

Woman: Reverend Wright. You can't convince me that you can go to church with someone for 20 years and not share the same ideology.

Interviewer: So you think Obama is a Christian.

Woman: Absolutely not.

5. Warning to liberals: This woman has Obama ALL FIGURED OUT!
Now to be fair, I used to hear much crazier conspiracy theories from my right wing friends back in the 90s when they were still worried about the communists. I think one has to be a Christian to accept these kinds of conspiracy theories, because frankly without the Devil to orchestrate them, these things are just too complicated and require too much foreknowledge of world events for mere humans to pull them off.

6. Pity she waited so long to wake up. Some of us have been
awake all of our lives. That is exactly what is wrong with the human race, so busy working (hopefully) to eat sleep and enjoy life but haven't taken time to find out what life is all about.

7. You now how a squirrel changes direction instantly, and then change again and again, as your car ...
..... bears down on them? That is the perfect description of that woman's thought patterns. There is no critical thought there at all.

This kind of insane talk and paranoid, removed from reality type of thought processing has gotten people committed to asylums in days gone by....and in some places, even today.

Now they have a leader...the beckerheads have united!!!

9. As scattered and incoherent as this woman's...
...commentary is, she's no less a victim of the PTB than any of us, and we should try to remember this before we hold her out as an object of ridicule.

She said she wasn't really paying attention until just two years ago, which sounded believable. So now she's trying to make sense of all the noise -- does anybody here think that's particularly easy? It's a process, and she's just begun it.

We should be trying to reach people like her, difficult as that may be in some cases. Who among us doesn't have at least one friend, relative, neighbor, or family member like her? I'd bet most of us do.

Numbers mean everything for a successful revolution. We need as many as we can get on our side. Ridicule is not the way to make that happen.

10. I'll agree with you to a point. The folks who deserve ridicule are the PTB in the GOP and RW Media
HOWEVER, anyone who vehemently shouts stupidity at the top of their lungs without any real attempt to educate themselves is deserving of some ridicule. She does not get a free pass because of ignorance.

18. I'm of a different mindset.
I think people like her who say they woke up two years ago -- they woke up to find a black man in the White House. There is very little we can about such deep-seated fear and racism. You can see it in the way she cringes when she says he's a Muslim. Not sure you can really reach people like her.

21. I was just thinking that when your reply came across my screen
There is definitely a racial aspect to what she said. They woke up to find a black man in the whitehouse and then they promptly went searching for things about which to be outraged.

Edited on Tue Aug-31-10 01:34 PM by Mr_Jefferson_24
...of this woman, but I didn't sense a hateful person so much as one who has been misled.

Beck's primary role is one of division, and to the degree that we openly treat his followers with disdain, as opposed to reaching out to them, we serve his agenda.

How smart is that?

26. Yeah, but it's not as much fun as ridiculing people.
Why is is impossible for anyone to keep a level head?

I believe this woman is being honest and I didn't hear her say anything that implicated her as a racist. Sorry, folks, but disagreeing with a black person doesn't make you a de facto racist and going around, pointing your fingers and shouting "RACIST" really isn't productive. A significant portion of the country was vehemently opposed to Clinton, Kerry, Gore, Carter, etc. They were labeled heartless, stupid, insane, blah blah blah. But Obama gets elected and suddenly they're all racist as well. Yeah, I don't think so. The only thing that's changed is that now the left has the opportunity to call them racists. (Yes, there are absolutely racists out there but not every Republican or Libertarian is one.) And simply disagreeing doesn't make you one. The charge of racism is like a law suit: It doesn't need merit, only opportunity. The president's a black man which just makes it too damned easy to call everyone on the opposite side of the political spectrum a racist. Furthermore, charging everyone with a dissenting opinion as a racist cheapens the word and detracts from the credibility of those making the charge.

Lets be honest - Most of the people screaming "racist!" are only doing so because it's the most vile thing they can think of.

13. And this is spreading like a plague.
While we fight over whether Obama is a Muslim or Christian or Communist or Nazi or the Antichrist, corporations and the wealthy continue quietly expanding their power over the rest of us.

14. Americans don't have to go to any church. We are a secular nation and religion is personal choice.
Obama could be an atheist for all I care, as long as he does
his job, which is to serve the American
people, build the infrastructure, staff the schools with
intelligent teachers, and make sure we don't
have homeless on the street and everyone has food, shelter and
clothing.

Is he getting that job done? How can he with all the crap
going on about religion?

Who in America, besides these paid actors croaking about
religion (including the journalists)thinks that
whether a person has religion or not has anything to do with
his job description?

Are we really just a bunch of uneducated idiots now?

Can we stop watching stupid news and start some smart blogs
instead?

Kristol & McCain are to blame for most of the insanity we've witnessed on YouTube and elsewhere during and since the 2008 election campaign.
