A new US video game in which the player can take on the role of a Taliban fighter and kill American and British soldiers has caused outrage in the UK.

The country's defence minister says it is "tasteless" and "shocking" and has called for the product to be banned.

But the makers of "Medal of Honor" have defended it, saying it reflects the fact that every conflict has two sides.

Al Jazeera's Guy Henderson reports.

1. Oh, I forgot, we only kill 'them'...
The entire serious you are placed in one role or the other, my partner plays them and has played them and alternating roles (online) are part of the game.

2. I've played most of the Medal of Honor series. This is a very interesting development, though.

3. Painfully obvious
This was created to generate controversy for marketing purposes and outdo CoD:MW2's No Russian stage.

5. There really is no controversy...
because I do not recall anyone bitching about the other games in the series.

9. They've all been WW2 games..
I think the fact this is a modern game, with people still fighting the game's enemy, is what is making the difference. Rather than an enemy no longer in existence in an substantial form.

But again, as I said... it's not really a big deal.

7. whatever the purpose
No Russian was an intense sequence in the game...even as a game, i felt the horror of killing innocents. and it indeed felt horrific...
