Summary: Cenk interviews former Democratic Congressman and current DLC Chairman Harold Ford Jr. Cenk questions the bipartisan approach of the DLC, gets into Ford voting for the anti-consumer bankruptcy bill when he was in Congress (and contrasts it with Ford reportedly getting a bonus as vice chairman and senior policy advisor of Merryl Lynch after they were bailed out) and touches on Ford's new book, More Davids Than Goliaths. Ford is also asked if he regrets having voted for the Military Commissions Act.

I may try again another time. When I heard the no to his vote I had to stop.

It's Friday and I would like to have a wee bit of fun. I remember working my ass off for someone whose votes and positions I strongly disagreed with because things were so bad in '06.

Harold told the woman who was running our county headquarters during that time that he didn't want anyone who really opposed the war in Iraq, and this vote working on his campaign. She told him, " Okay you'll lose about 5 executive council members, three of whom have been to DC to protest the war, and right off the top of my head 8 or more precinct chairs or vice chairs, and these are the people who regularly show up to GOTV. Are you sure you wanna stick with that or rethink it."

Sorry NY, but he's yours to deal with now thank goodness.

5. How noble of him to being willing to risk our rights!

He's smart and very calmly lays out his side of a debate. But he sidestepped how he, and the DLC can be so hard on powerless and so giving to the powerful. Too bad the title of his book is BS and what he says is rationalization for what they were going to do, anyway.

I could have sworn I wasn't listening to a Democrat during most of that interview. This interview has helped me understand why their is so much railing against the DLC on DU.

Yeah, and there is an Easter Bunny.

Seriously, he went from Congress to a cushy executive position at Citibank. He spews crap about "personal responsibility" to justify voting for the bankruptcy bill and places much of the blame for the mortgage meltdown on the "Davids" of the American public. Ford brags about being smart enough not to be suckered by the banks and credit card companies. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back Harold. Ignore the exponentially irresponsible immorally bankrupt behavior of Wall Street when it came to derivatives.

He brags about the DLC when it was DLC politicians who were as culpable as the Republicans in deregulating the financial services sector and setting into motion a series of events that led to the current economic fiasco.
