Obama is continuing and expanding on some of Bush's policies, leading the ACLU to fear that his administration will create a "new normal" where the rule of law, legal representation of the accused, and due process before punishment or execution are a thing of the past.

I know, I know, Obama's better than Bush or McCain or Palin, but we have to be wary of this sort of thing. Please don't be hatin'.

1. Obama has done what Bush, Cheney, McCain, and Palin could never have done...

He's rallied about half the Dems to favor torture, extra-judicial killings, war escalation, whistle-blower harassment, government spying on Americans, and on and on.

If we had a repuke president, we'd still be against those things.

Think about what Obama has accomplished.

5. Can you imagine how dangerous this nation would become

if it did set aside its internal differences and had nothing to fear and hate but "others."

I believe what's really happening is that the majority of the nation, including the Democratic Party, has been abandoning principles and falling into a sort of ethics-free and amoral group think euphemistically labeled "pragmatism." Unlike principles, pragmatism allows torture and accepts plausible deniability as a substitute for innocence. Poverty is okay, just as long as the poverty-stricken don't vote and continue to serve as fodder for illegal wars. Justice is reduced to a simple process, and the rules are folded, spindled and mutilated to make the process produce the desired outcome.

But it won't bother the Left that's only just left of Center (i.e. The New Democratic Party).
