If parents were praying for food to appear by itself in their baby's mouth instead of feeding her, would we be wondering whether one should intervene?

1. No question
These people are criminally negligent

3. Some parents seem to think children are their property
or even extensions of themselves. The law itself is treading a fine line in this respect, allowing parents a great deal of latitude.

However, when it comes to causing injury or death, the law is pretty clear on the matter, that children are not absolute property of their parents.

So yes, these parents will be found to be criminally negligent, will lose custody at least temporarily, and the poor baby will get treatment.

That baby will have someone to whom a great deal of gratitude is owed, the person who turned those parents in.

Honestly, folks, if the prayer isn't working, try medicine!

2. Also...
If there was a similar situation with a child in Saudi Arabia and it was Muslim parents taking the same stance with their sick daughter, the Oregon Wyland family would probably be laughing at how superstitious Muslims are, praying to a god that doesn't exist.

4. Yes!
The irony is thick.
