Paul Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Gould, a husband and wife team, began their experience in Afghanistan when they were the first American journalists to acquire permission to enter behind Soviet lines in 1981 for CBS News and produced a documentary, Afghanistan Between Three Worlds, for PBS. In 1983 they returned to Kabul with Harvard Negotiation project director Roger Fisher for ABC Nightline and contributed to the MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour. They have continued to research, write and lecture about the long-term run-up that led to the US invasion of Afghanistan. Paul Fitzgerald and Elizabeth Gould are the authors of Invisible History: Afghanistan's Untold Story published by City Lights. Their next book Crossing Zero The AfPak War at the Turning Point of American Empire will be published February, 2011.

2. "charlie wilson`s war"...is not fiction
one of the history channels runs the bio on charlie with his comments and explanation of what happened.

an interesting tidbit---the us military did`t want the afgan`s to have stingers.so someone got the word to reagan and he signed the order to supply stingers. once the stingers started flying the russians were done.

6. Charlie Wilson's War
isn't fiction, but it handily ignores a few facts, such as the fact that Jimmy Carter signed the legislation that funded and founded and trained the group that became the Taliban on July 3, 1979....six months before the soviet invasion. It isn't fiction, but it's not truth, either.

3. Brzezinski, himself, tells us that US/CIA created Taliban/Al Qaeda thru ISI/Pakistan...funding it ..

right up to 9/11 --

The original purpose under Carter Administration -- shockingly!! -- was that the

US would go into Afghanistan 6 months before the Russians arrived . . . "in order to

bait the Russians into Afghanistan . . . in hopes of giving them a Vietnam-type

experience."

Evidently, we didn't want to be the only losers???

Jimmy Carter should be asked about this some time give his decision to take us out

of the Russian Olympics . . . because ... "Wow -- Russia invaded Afghanistan!" --

We need need some new history books in America!!!

AND, speaking of books -- if you remember those notorious and very violent Islamic books

that the MSM were frequently showing Americans . . . guess what?

US created, wrote, printed -- and shipped those books into the Middle East!

And the intention had to be to introduce a violent form of Islam into Middle East -- !!

4. Ah Yes, the Jihad school book scandal
Those disgusting Muslim fundamentalist Taliban, brainwashing and corrupting the minds of their youth with anti-foreigner, jihad filled school text books full of pictures of bombs, guns and bullets. The Western media delighted in describing to us in shocked tones these text books as examples of the irredeemable religious bigotry of the Taliban, eagerly trying to indoctrinate their young men in hatred of the West and of non-Muslims and inspiring them from an early age to engage in armed struggles against non-Muslims. And yet these same hate filled, jihad preaching textbooks were supplied gratis by the USA, but that fact, aside from a brief mention by the Washington Post, received no attention at all by our mainstream media whores.

Have you heard about the Afghan Jihad schoolbook scandal?

Or perhaps I should say, "Have you heard about the Afghan Jihad schoolbook scandal that's waiting to happen?"

snip

Washington Post investigators report that, during the past twenty years, the US has spent millions of dollars producing fanatical schoolbooks, which were then distributed in Afghanistan.

"The primers, which were filled with talk of jihad and featured drawings of guns, bullets, soldiers and mines, have served since then as the Afghan school system's core curriculum. Even the Taliban used the American-produced books..." -- Washington Post, 23 March 2002 (1)

According to the Post, the U.S. is now "...wrestling with the unintended consequences of its successful strategy of stirring Islamic fervor to fight communism."

So the books made up the core curriculum in Afghan schools. And what were the unintended consequences? The Post reports that, according to unnamed officials, the schoolbooks "steeped a generation in (Islamist) violence."

How could this result have been unintended? Did they expect that having fundamentalist schoolbooks in the core curriculum would produce moderate Muslims?

5. Glad to see this info spreading, from a number of directions . . .
More Americans have to wake up to this game-playing by US/CIA --

and remember that Pentagon uses 80% of the oil -- making it a "national security"

issue --

i.e., no oil/no wars --
