1. Pretty much says it all.
Legal sweatshops, taxation without representation and another big FU to the working class.

12. great video, change comes slowly
The Republicans want to go back, the Democrats want to move forward. This video was made when Bush was president. After watching this video, you have to ask yourself...do you really want to go backwards?

2. When I was growing up and in school....
My teachers always said that one of the greatest things about the United States was if you are born here you are a citizen. It doesn't matter who your parents are or where they are from, you were a citizen and had all the rights that come with it.

I guess it is just one more "greatness" we are loosing to the right wing.

3. Of course, there will be Americans who remain unemployed as a result
But who cares about them? They're just lazy and getting rich on unemployment.

14. I found the music rather soothing, I liked it all.
Clear, concise, well-documented, all the way up the Lindsey Graham wanting to screw Mexicans, (and so many other workers) through our Constitution.

10. Wearing flags.
Back in my misspent youth, when dinosaurs roamed and LBJ was sending us off to get killed, if any of us godless hippie freaks got caught wearing a flag shirt, we'd be jailed after having the snot beaten out of us. I'd like to volunteer to provide that service to this fellow.

11. For Republicans...A Perfect World!!
Edited on Sat Jul-31-10 01:53 PM by husky92
Boy, that video lays out a near-perfect world for all the right wingers. No wonder many other states are clamoring for similar laws. I live in Florida and I had a home building supervisor tell me a couple of years ago if they stopped illegals from working on homes here the housing market would go in the shitter. One simple reason -- wages. People can make all the noise they want about these people taking jobs in our country, but businesses love them because they work for low wages and they don't have to pay health insurance and other benefits. For companies its more profit. You don't need to be a Harvard Ph. D. to figure that out. Look at all the companies here that have moved into Mexico or buy everything from China, Vietnam, etc. They pay people peanuts and they rake in their profits. All this noise by the right is pure bullshit to appeal to their base of knuckleheads who believe illegal immigrants are the cause of our current economic downturn. I say let the righties keep running their anti-immigration nonsense. All it is going to do is drive Hispanic voters to the Democrats and watch how elections start changing in some places like Texas as their numbers grow.

15. One thing to add...
Erosion of civil rights, ie, check for papers, etc., will make it easier to create the kind of police state necessary to control those guest workers. They'll be practically living in a labor camp, if they step off the company grounds where their housing will also be set up (after all, can't have them living with the nice white folks, plus they couldn't afford it anyway), they'll be immediately hunted down and arrested, taken in and harrassed until they can show their papers.

16. I follow the logic up to a point.
Why don't they simply overturn the first law that fines corporations for hiring illegally? If RepubliCONS have so much power they can institute their dastardly plans at will (constitutional amendments, continued deportations, giant increase in worker visas) why not just overturn the law against illegal employers? Why institute another possibly unconstitutional law?

This seems like a round about way to get a labor force that can be abuse at will.
