Audio is real.

Video is animated and synced, a la the old "Clutch Cargo" cartoon (and Conan O'Brien's fake interviews with Clinton, Schwarzenegger, etc).

"To my knowledge their is no surviving film recording of John Steinbeck discussing his work" (comment at link provided above).

But what is said is 100% authentic Steinbeck. His message about the fear and anger during the times of the novel could be a message for July 16, 2010.
