Some of them are just plain stupid.

That said I had no expectation that anything more than the voluntary manslaughter charge against Mehserle would stick. The trial fairly much matched my expectations. As a sofa chair jurist I saw nothing there that definitively indicated a second degree murder conviction.

True the Bart cop probably did just have a fit of rage and shot Mr. Grant. Problem is that (based upon the video and other evidence the public has seen) it's really difficult to see anything more than the conviction on voluntary manslaughter. Least i don't see beyond a reasonable doubt. Hard to prove otherwise.

Far better that Bart officers get better training and a more productive sense of priorities than to scapegoat a young prick who acted stupidly.
