I worked as a bartender at a comedy club from roughly 1996 to 1998. I made $5 an hour plus tips.
Now since this club had a family-friendly theme, we often had many families come in, usually on Sunday evening.
Friday and Saturday were our big nights, a lot of drinkers, and I would often make good tips. But Sunday was more "family-oriented" and not so many, if any, drinkers. I would still oversee the bar, including popcorn, candy, and non-alcoholic drinks. There were many Sundays when I received no tips whatsoever. My pay was $5 x the number of hours worked. Period.
Now I bring this up because the GOP Congress decided to pass a law whereby a set percentage would be taken out of my paycheck. This amount was suppose to represent the amount I was making in tips. In other words, the GOP Congress felt we weren't declaring our tips on our 1040s every year, so they were going to take it out of our paychecks. Get it? The GOP was going to get our "tips" deducted from our pay because we weren't declaring them on our taxes each year.
Even on Sunday, I had a certain percentage taken out of my paycheck to represent the "tips" I wasn't declaring on my 1040 even though I didn't make any tips for that day. :grr:
And folks wonder why I hate the GOP!
