1. I saw this last night and wanted...

...so much for Rachel to give us the number of jobs that the moratorium on 'deep-water drilling' would impact versus the total jobs involved on all the 'production' rigs. She gave us the number of rigs involved - something less than 1% if I recall - so pointing out the number of jobs that Jindal and the rest of the 'bought-and-paid-for' politicians that are carping about this, would be 'telling'.

And yes, about 3600 rigs 'producing', about 30 affected by the moratorium on drilling.

2. Thank goodness for Rachel! This is a question I've had ever since

this mess started. From the statements made by BP I could tell that they were in the process of capping it when it blew up. I couldn't understand why they found the oil and then were proceeding to cap the well.

Thanks to Rachel, now I understand how it works. Difference between drilling and production. Maybe I'm the only one here who didn't get it.

The next thing is: "reducing our dependence on foreign oil". Isn't all that oil sold on the world market to the highest bidder? So, "drill baby drill" isn't going to reduce the price of gas. Right?

ETA> Bobby Jindal is either a liar or stupid. I'll go with "liar". He has to know how many drilling platforms are actually affected.

I would bet the federal judge who handed down that decision didn't know the difference between drilling and production. We're talking 33 platforms. Did Salazar make that clear? If not, why not?

5. The question is: Why isn't anyone in the administration pointing this out?

6. Yes, it's puzzled me for a long time why Obama doesn't seize any opportunity

to inform the American people. (Don't mention his Oval Ofc. speech. I printed it out and made notes in the margins. It's mostly meaningless fluff.)

The drilling/production idea can be summed up in a couple of sentences. It would go a long way toward countering Jindal's grandstanding.

9. I think that about a LOT of the crap the RW spews that isn't truthful. CBS finally

got Jindal's office to admit he has not called up all the Guard he's been granted, but he keeps yelling "where are they?"

7. K&R -- So why doesn't some intrepid reporter say to Jindal or whatever rabid

Republican who is screaming about this "This affects about 30 rigs in the Gulf. There are over 3,600 in the Gulf right now producing and going full throttle."

Put it in their faces and see what they have to say.

This was eye-opening, information and good ammo to have!
