5. To be fair...
Reagan's first four years should have been compared to Carter's single term.

Carter - 10.3 million jobs
Reagan - 5.3 million jobs

6. The entire Republican strategy
is to maintain these myths of the U.S. as a paradise when they are in office.

7. And it is very easy for them to do so...
Considering the recent poll that came out saying 41% of Americans think Jesus will return by 2050 & the fact over 60% of Americans think the Theory of Evolution is a lie...Add that to the fact the Republicans have a entire cable news channel dedicated to echoing their talking points 24/7/365 & a monopoly over the radio that repeats the same message over and over and over so that folks hear it so much they believe it is true.

They boil the complicated issues of the 21st Century down into very simple us vs them and if you do not vote Republicans you are not a true Christian, not patriotic, not for freedom, not a real man, support killing babies and the list goes on...On the other hand, Democrats who are actually trying to solve the complicated issues of the 21st Century have to fight back all these forces by expecting a majority of Americans to stop, look at the facts and think about the issues...This simply does not work in a nation of people who choose the simple answer that requires no proof it just feels good!

This is why I know there is nothing but Dark Times ahead...And the worse things get the louder the calls from the right will be that we are not close enough to god! And as common sense is completely abandoned for policies that are geared to get us closer to god the problems will only get worse.

I hope I am wrong!!

8. Oh, I agree completely.
That echo of the talking points is tangible and effective. You can see the effect on the polls right before your eyes. And ignorance is practically celebrated.

I grew up with the concept of an ancient and evolving earth. I looked at the Carboniferous fossils when I was young and understood that dinosaurs came later, higher up in the strata. I struggle with widespread American stupid.

10. Here's a trio of us agreeing
The ridiculum that's taking place in Texas is a perfect indicator of how the "faith-full" are being fronted as a cover for the swindlers. Get everyone sucked into a fervored froth about the messiah returning, and in the meantime, secure the cinch on total domination of the under-classes. Who cares whether they like it or not? There won't be a damned thing they can do about it without bringing their own hell down on their heads!
This is why we're fighting TWO wars with someone else's money. Can you imagine the uproar if we had to go TO the purses of our citizens to sustain these occupations??? Nah - everyone just keep on shopping. There's no need for you to angst unless you've actually got family in the military.

11. Yes they do celebrate their ignorance!
The past year has really made me think that America could continue to go down the tubes really quick! After all, according to those on the right all our problems are because we allow women to have control of their own bodies, allow GLTB to protest for rights and the worst of all we teach our kids they came from MONKEYS!!

It is kinda scary to think about!

14. It is scary.
It's scary because these people have influence far beyond their numbers and they serve to tamp down the intelligence of American society. Frustrating as hell.

16. The dumber less educated the public is...
The better religion works as a control. You are so correct! It is scary!

Folks think it is impossible for a nation like America to slip into a long period of Dark Ages so they just ignore what is going on...Saying it is just "Angry Atheist" blowing stuff out of proportion.

A scary example of this dumbing down of America...In 1994 around 40% of America denied the Theory of Evolution. This poll has been done every year since then and that number is now at 61% deny the Theory of Evolution. Couple that with the poll that says 41% of America thinks Jesus will return by 2050 and the picture gets even darker!

I think the next 2-6yrs will tell whether we as a nation decide to move forward into the 21st Century or whether we buy into the idea that America needs to get closer to the Christian God.

We will see...

9. Thanks Michel Steele!
Usually you have to pay $200 at a GOP fund raiser to see him make an ass of himself, this time it was free. We need more of this idiot clown on the air holding his hand over his ears screaming "I can't hear you" when he's told the truth.
