Music: Elton John
Lyrics: Bernie Taupin

Broken beams across the doorway
Plaster cracked and peeling paper
Nicolette wears dirty dresses
Bathes herself in last week's water
Their roofs are tin-beaten metal
The skeletal have rusty voices
Sylvio, he sleeps on headlines
Dreams of love and lemon ices

chorus

But he doesn't believe, he no longer prays
What's the point, He's not listening anyway
'Cause God never came here
He sold them a lie
God made a fool of them
God passed them by

God resents the global franchise
Bodies packed like saints entombed
Give us now your happy meals
Bless us in the baby boom

We starve and you demand we pray
To the faces etched in stone
Auction up your ancient wealth
So we can build ourselves a home

We need blankets, not your blessings
Send us shoes instead of angels
Time instead of bibles
Bring us bread instead of prayers

3. No but neither did Rush
And Elton is more likely to donate it to a liberal cause.

2. He is an interesting artist with many talents, and some difficulties also, like most people.

And he has sung about that in many songs. Not sure of all his views on things, and it does seem that things are not easy for many people.

I agree people think differently on such topics, but I also think two thoughts on that. First if people can't figure out how to live in better ways that are explained in many holy texts, there would not be much argument for them surviving. And I think there is some plan so people will survive.

But also, if God just made people do something, then they would only do it for the time they think they are being watched, that is fear method. I think God tries to change the heart of people, and tries to get people to be the people to make the difference.

And I think he has given bread to many in many ways, it is just not always shown as much. Seen some great stories of people helping people in many of the news casts, and many better things.

As far as the bread from heaven, for me much of that is comfort from music, including some of Elton John's songs, even when I know he may think differently on many topics. Although I do agree it can be a bit frustrating. There are many issues in many areas that seem like they could be corrected.

A great Elton John Song

I'm Still Standing.

From this album - definitely my favorite Elton John and seems to be one of the least well known.

5. Bernie Taupin
is one of the best lyricists of our era.
His talented writing is perfectly matched with the music of Elton John.
