2. John Edwards speaks for me!
and now we have a candidate who is not only opposed to media consolidation - but asks Dem candidates to return donations from Rupert Murdoch whose messaging Empire helped defeat Gore and Kerry - and bashes Democrats 24/7.
The next day - News Corp retaliated!! and purposely released lies to the AP about John Edwards and his book deal with them.
But so far - all the Dem candidates are mum - refusing to comment on Edwards request to return Murdoch's donations. Apparently, they approve of Murdoch buying a Dem president! and further eroding our democracy!

7. Commerical/Corporate lobbyists
those wheeler dealers to stimulate profits :D

I only belong to two "lobby" groups...National Association of Railroad Passengers and Humane USA. As far as I know, they don't give money to politicians, but they sure tell me how to vote....both are non-partisan orgs....supported by donations and membership dues.

9. The humane society has become a "political animal"
The Humane Society Becomes a Political Animal

By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum
Tuesday, January 30, 2007; Page A15

Many people may consider the Humane Society of the United States a pussycat. But with 10 million donors and a $120 million budget, it is becoming a tiger among Washington's interest groups.

Just ask Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. (R) and Rep. Richard W. Pombo (R-Calif.). Actually, make that former governor and then-representative. The Humane Society targeted both in last year's elections after Ehrlich supported bear hunting and Pombo supported commercial whaling and trapping in wildlife refuges.

<snip>

Pacelle's goal is to double the amount of his electoral giving and the extent of the society's lobbying over the next two years. He already can boast an average of 20,000 members in each congressional district and a budget that is twice the size of that of his nearest animal-rights rival, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). The activist People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is a quarter as large

No more money from lobbyists? Be careful what you wish for...
