2. I so wish Eliot Spitzer could have kept it in his pants.
He looks at all angles. We need him not on MSNBC filling in for anchors, but leading the charge on finance reform.

4. WE need to not be so judgmental when it comes to the personal failings of others
and see their job performance and advantage to the community. Focus on their healing and NOT ostracization for "crimes" that don't affect the community. IOW we need to grow up.

Native-American peoples have a much more sophisticated way to deal with breeches. They train, they don't punish. Ostracization is only for the most egregious crimes.

6. I don't disagree, but like John Edwards, his career in the public is finished.
Just reality.

Spitzer (unlike Edwards) has much to offer. I wish our system was different.

I applaud the native-American approach to forgiveness - thank you for sharing the concept.

7. Edwards seems unrepentant. I still think Spitzer is redeemable
He does have much to offer, our mistake to discard him. You're welcome re the Native-American approach :hi:

10. Way to go, Glenn.
Recommended with pride.
The left needs more lawyers.
Ghettos, blockades, confinement, impoverishment, economic collapse, putting people on a "diet" . . .
It's sounding more like a version of the Holocaust, this time carried out by Jews, every damn day.

13. Why
doesn't Israel just peacefully inspect these aide ships for armaments and then let them pass once they have been shown to have no munitions? What is so wrong with sending building materials or food to people who have been cut off from the world?

23. They offered.
Israel offered to inspect the cargo and then allow it to enter Gaza through the proper channels but the activists refused and tried to run the blockade even after repeatedly being ordered to stop. The reason cement is on the contraband list is because Hamas hijacks virtually all of it and uses it to build military bunks which obviously are military installations even so Israel does allow cement and building materials to enter Gaza but only if they are given to responsible aid organizations (like the UN) who have armed guards to prevent theft by Hamas thugs.

14. He was way off base trying to attack Egypt. They were not a party to this!
Egypt was only participating in the blockade to improve relations with Israel. They also immediately opened their boarder with Gaza to Humanitarian Aid shipments after the attack. So Egypt is trying their damnedest to be a good guy in this and do what's right. It would be counterproductive to try to alienate Egypt over Israel's actions.

24. Most folks don't know about that and about the documents signed
agreeing to "protect" Egypt's ruling monarchy from elections. (Astounding, isn't it?! US govt. against free elections! LOL!)

I once accidentally discovered validation of this fact in a .gov doc, but such docs are no longer to be found online.

(This is the first time I've seen Carter's action brought up on DU. Normally I'm a fan of Mr. Carter.)

21. I am really shocked.
I regard Thom as a world class mind and a true humanitarian. I can't believe he isn't taking a strong stand against Israel's violent aggression on this.

Regrettably, and without an real explanation from Thom I think he has a huge blindspot on this. I hold Thom in the highest esteem, yet I am deeply disappointed in him as a person on this issue.

22. Filled with falsehoods.
The reality is Hamas was not democratically elected. Hamas won a plurality but not a majority and formed a coalition government with Fatah. Hamas later decided it wanted total power and carried out a coupe in which they murdered hundreds of pro-Fatah Palestinians, hanging people from street lamps, shooting whole families, grabbing people off the street and then throwing them off of buildings, etc... Glenn Greenwald is just wrong on so many levels.
