In the US, we get accustomed to reading about this sort of thing happening to other people in other places. Seeing a realistic depiction of it happening here to us should.

I read elsewhere that some in Chicago want to deploy the National Guard to use limited tactics to control street violence in a limited area. How limited? How long?

We are currently on a precipice, and it would take very little to send us over the edge.

Before the Republican National Convention in 2004 in NYC the police rounded up more than 500 people and put them in cages for an average of 33 hours.
