Its amazing to see how China trys to control a nation even after death

it almost legitimizes reincarnation

but they control it

noone controls you after death

thats the ultimate freedom

China really is a spiritless country

2. This cannot be true.
What a crazy bunch these Chinese are.

Of course, in this country, Pat Robertson has anointed himself spiritual guide to the nation. So, we should not laugh too much at the Chinese. If the right-wing Republicans win in 2008, they will probably appoint Pat Robertson or his successor to approve all religious leaders in our country.

9. couldn't fit it all in the heading
based on a article on Timeline by Jane McCarthy Tibet's living Buddhas have been banned from reincarnation without permission from China's atheist leaders.

4. They should just sell Buddha Licenses on the net -- they'd make a mint
More seriously, the reason the Chinese government is doing this is obviously to control the next generation of Tibetan religious leaders (which are also political leaders in Tibet). If they don't comply, they can be arrested for being an 'unlicensed Buddha' (and while I'd love to have a rap like that on my record...I suspect it wouldn't be pleasant).

5. it's tragic I know...
religious freedom to believe or not believe should be universal, but man chooses to not be this way as a whole, and some countries are downright hostile about it.

7. clearly outrageous
and shrubya should be saying so, in the belief that freedom to believe as one chooses should be permitted, and hammering the Chinese gov't repeatedly for this, but then again, they'd laugh at him and say "whatever Der Fuhrer, you are more war mongering than we are!"

as a Christian, I commiserate with you about how horrible the Chinese govt is, and sadly, there's so much religious hate around the word that it's laughable that many really believe and desire peace...
