1. 1988 is when Congress instituted the 'Day of Prayer' -interesting answer Hitchens got from Perkins

Perkins keeps pushing 'the first President did this' so that makes it okay. I suppose then owning other people as slaves should be okay as George Washington had 316 on his estate when he died? Hitchens makes points, but folks on the religious extreme are always too caught up in their own world view that they don't listen beyond their own doctrines. As they lose more and more people due to failures of their own faiths to hold believers' trust and weakening of Church strength in moral leadership, they have to push more and more to legislate up the difference into government rules. That darn Constitution seems to always confound their plans so they squint at passages that don't support their arguments.

Yes, a president announcing a proclamation is different from Congress issuing one - and no doubt Hitchens would offer that neither is appropriate. So to offer an analogy - arguing that one poison is far more dangerous than another poison somehow means that the lesser one should not be considered poison at all is misguided. They are both poisonous, just each to a different degree.

2. This ass hole doesn't even know, or chooses to ignore,
that in order for a precedent to be made, except under a few cases where the Supreme Court is charged to be the first and only arbitrator, it has to wind it's way through the court system. The ruling is appealed to a higher court until it reaches the Supreme Court.

Calling for the Impeachment of a lower court judge because they have made a ruling on a case brought before it, which is how the whole process operates, is absurd.

We know Smiling Tony Perkins would rather put to death anyone who disagrees with him because it is the old testament way, but he must know that no matter how many people profess to be Christian, no matter how many days of prayer have been called in the past, we are a secular nation that allows the free worship of whichever god or entity a citizen prefers to practice. And Tony, that is the whole point of the United States of America.

3. Religious Extremist Who Wants Our Gov. to Force Christianity Down Our Throats
He and the religious right are those the founders warned us against... religious tyrrany vieled by bullshit spin. We know their agenda... look at the Middle East for a great example.
