The fringe Tea Party crazies are all over the news – both TV and print. Minnesota’s main newspaper, the Star Tribune, recently gave more than half a page to a Tea Party spokesperson on the front page of the Sunday Op Ed section! Why doesn’t the media cover the much larger number of us who oppose the 8 ½ years of war in Afghanistan??

When we interviewed Minnesotans at a suburban library and a Minneapolis bus station, we found many people were disillusioned, cynical, and angry with the eight and one half years the U.S. has been at war there. People said we should get out – that we’re there for oil, for business profits, power. We didn’t find many Minnesotans who still supported the U.S. fighting in Afghanistan.

Why is the media afraid to interview people who are against the war? Why is the media still cheerleading the war effort – putting forth news that claims we’re making progress in Iraq and Afghanistan?? Much of the public isn’t buying it!!

2. "Why is the media afraid to interview people who are against the war?"
Look what happened to Jesse Ventura. Former NAVY Seal and Vietnam vet, the MSM fell all over itself to interview him after the Iraq invasion. Oooo-ooo, he'll support GW Bush! But wait! Ventura is against the Iraq war! He's against torture! He wants to prosecute Bush, Cheney, et al!

Voila! No more requests for interviews...

12. Afghan War Costs
Every day more Americans day and we seriously increase the toll of innocent civilians. From the report in December of executing handcuffed children to the recent exposure by WikiLeaks of the Americans killing a batch of civilians because two were carrying cameras for their jobs as reporters. The American troop conversation is a chilling reminder of what war is like. http://collateralmurder.com/ Not so much for national pride!

5. but if you read the corporate media only, they make it sound like it's just a matter of getting the
right strategy - not a hopeless, bottomless money pit trying to get a pipeline for the oil corps.

7. This is what real reporters should be doing
This is great. I was surprised that in the Suburbs that so many of the people would actually know what is up. But then again they are people who use the library.

These people seem much smarter and informed than some of the reportors I see on the local minneapolis news.

Thanks WAMM for doing these interviews.

9. we need other people to do this where they live
You can use a simple video camera that is on many cameras.

You can then send it to your friends, facebook and to your local media

10. The war in Afghanistan
was one of those things I was on the fence about when it started. Realistically, I never though that the U.S. would find bin Laden, which was the stated goal. But I initially supported it. Now the war has just gone to hell. It's a mess that the Bush administration created, and now Obama has to try to clean up that mess.

I did initially support the Iraq war (I used to be a Republican), but my support didn't last long. War based on a lie--a lie that some people in the U.S. still believe. We have no mission in Iraq or Afghanistan anymore. My cousin came back from his tour in Iraq in late December or early January. He's about 23, and I think that he saw things over there that are going to stay with him for the rest of his life.

Support our military. Don't support needless, endless war.
