I really think this needs to go viral again only to show that the talking heads are as stupid as a bunch of rocks.

1. Wow!
I saw that conversation on Hardball when it happened, and felt that while Matthews was (imo) rude to Grayson, that he'd basically won the argument. Now, when I see it again, in light of what has just happened, I have a totally different interpretation of Grayson's look of incredulity. It's so plain now that he was suffering through Matthew's tirade as politely as possible, although he was completely aware of how wrong Matthews was. What a different view it is to look back! Thanks for posting. Grayson showed remarkable civility and restraint.

3. QUIT INTERRUPTING!!
I would enjoy Matthews so much more if he would SHUT UP after asking a question. Grayson could hardly get a word in edgewise. And now I hope Matthews has him back so he (Matthews) can pay up on the bet! Alan Grayson rocks!

8. He doesn't even get to the interrupting cuz he never lets them talk!
He's started doing this thing where he asks the question, rephrases it, then answers it himself! So annoying.

Not quite as annoying as his ads where he toots his own horn WAY too much, but annoying none the less.

4. Eat crow, Tweety! I sent him a nasty email after I saw this attack on Grayson.
I thought at the time that Chris was out of line and demeaning to Grayson, and I told him so. Grayson is fighting honestly and should not have been disrespected. We see the lies of the republican machine given so much respect when it is clear that they are sewing fear and malicious gossip.

Chris Matthews should apologize to Allen for his remarks. There is a line of truth that should be the means for such confrontations. Grayson was not fabricating anything.

5. So it's through the Senate reconciliation routine already? Huh, I didn't know that.
He may yet be proven correct if the Senate manages to go all Centrist and Republican again.

I don't see this as a done deal till the Senate passes the reconciliation.

6. I hope Grayson reminds Mathews of this the next time he is on the show.
I remember seeing this and thinking Matthews was attemting to bait Gryason into a more "sound bite" worthy clip, Grayson didn't bite and just had a matter of fact look to him that only frustrated Matthews even more..

Grayson is the man!!

thanks for posting this. Nice to see him screaming his bullshit at the top of his lungs as if he has any clue what he's talking about.

11. What is wrong with debating the points of HCR?
I don't see a problem with them talking about this.

16. There's nothing wrong with debating the points
But Matthews mocked Grayson, accused him of pandering, or just of being a fool, neither of which was accurate.

Tweety should have known this. In fact I'm sure he did, but went for the controverys instead.

And that's what's wrong with this.

13. This demonstrates why I don't watch Chris much.
I remember him being faux-tough on Republicans, giving the party of pretense a pass in many cases, perhaps because he didn't expect them to have intelligent answers worthy of debate. Then he'd have Democrats on and jump all over them probably to show that Lookie Me, I'm tough on my own party.

He occasionally trounces a Republican propagandist and many of us praise him for it, but far more often he seems to be showing off how tough he is on those Democratic liberals.

He also tends to believe that if Democrats couldn't do something when he was in government way back when, that current Democrats won't be able to do it either.

Wish he didn't seem so intent on Look at me Jump on Grayson. See how tough I am with a liberal star? Aren't I cool not to let him get away with his common sense stuff? He could then acknowledge that Yes, in terms of passing budget-busting measures, those two giant Republican tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans in a time of war were passed through reconciliation, but our country has been pushed to the right, so tax cuts aren't really as controversial as insurance reform.

There are ways to challenge Democratic guests that draw them out, but part of that involves letting them answer your Golly Aren't I Fabulously Challenging questions.

But part of Tweety's tired old shtick is I'm not gonna let those Democrats run their old lines on me. Which would have impressed me much more if I had seen the same toughness on Bush Gang leaders during their destructive reign.

14. My Email To Matthews
Well, well, well, sir… I just saw the clip where you played a little Hardball with Rep. Alan Grayson (D, Florida) for recommending the use of reconciliation as a tool to pass HCR in the Senate. Well done Sir! You went straight for the jugular, mocking his knowledge and honesty, implying that he was pandering to the voters. This was Hardball at it’s very best! I’m sure Grayson felt embarrassed for coming on your show and preaching such drivel.

Of course, that was then, and this is now. "Then" being that time before HCR passed, and "Now" being... well, you know.

Do you feel embarrassed now, Mr. Matthews? I hope you do. No, strike that. What I really hope is that you feel there is sufficient controversy (and viewers love controversy!) at hand to run the following story:

“Tonight on Hardball - Media fools and talking heads who insulted Democratic officials for recommending reconciliation to pass Health Care Reform. We said it couldn’t done, but they did it!”

Let us see, Mr. Matthews, if you are as willing to turn your scornful wit against those who actually earned it. Including a certain Mr. Chris Matthews.

I guarantee you'll get every Democratic official, voter, apologizer, and pundit in America watching the episode where Chris Matthews plays a little HARDBALL with himself.

15. Matthews - what an ass! This is what flies for good television, eh?
Matthews' crack about "net roots" is very demeaning. He's proven time and time again he's just a hot air bag inflated with his own ego. Grayson gently but firmly refused to go along with it. He probably could have clarified things a lot more if he was actually given the time to complete a sentence or two.
