Cal Cunningham speaking at the NC Democratic Party State Executive Meeting

Inspiring candidate, who will fight in his campaign for progressive values. And then fight for them in Washington.

1. Good candidate!
Good candidate! I think NC will be a good race this year. The Burr victory margin was relatively narrow last time, especially given that it was a high point for conservatism in 2004. We could unseat him this time. Contribute to Cunningham, but also tossing a few bucks to the Libertarian candidate wouldn't hurt, since the Libertarians typically get two or three percent or more, and draw it directly from the GOP.

2. Cal is on fire
Cal is the only candidate in the NC Dem primary actually calling out Burr for his awful votes, drawing stark contrasts between their two platforms and providing real, insightful, smart policy positions about how bring jobs back to North Carolina and invest in our future.

He is going to define Burr before Burr defines himself (and, judging by Burr's enormous undecided numbers, he needs some time in the face of voters). Real North Carolinians will see Burr as the do-nothing lobbyist puppet he is.

Cal is sharp, skilled and ready to do battle. Keep those innovative job growth ideas coming and give NC Dems someone to root for, Mr. Cunningham! He sure excites people in the room above -- can't wait to see him translate that to every corner of our state.

3. He's got a great resume
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 04:57 PM by claypool4prez
Cal is a former NC state senator who represented three "red counties" so he's a proven winner.

He's also an Iraq War Veteran, and was awarded a Bronze Star for cracking down on contractor crimes in Iraq. It was the first case of corporate contractors being brought to justice in several decades.

Before that, Cal was the Student Body President at UNC-Chapel Hill and went to UNC Law and the London School of Economics.

So he's intelligent, a vet, and has a proven track record of winning.

We need to support him now!

Please consider donating a buck or two DUers.

5. Exactly right
Great post, because fire in his belly combines with a grounded grasp of why we need government to work for us. Really a great combination that we need to help get to Washington. That's why I'm volunteering for him- we need to make sure we send someone who can win not only in this election, but in the tough battles in Washington coming up.
