7. And we are all interconnected. How we treat our animals reflects on us as a
society, and a society that treats it's animals well is one which is also more compassionate to it's poorer and sicker human members.

2. Speaking as an eco-evolutionist;
I fear it's probably too late to save all but a few large animals worldwide and the majority of these are raised for human consumption and/or beasts of burden. Earth's ecology will quickly go downhill from here. Even if every republican were to die tomorrow, there's just too many people on this planet.

3. They're just as idiotic naked as clothed.
I don't have any love for fur in clothing -- but these idiots make me want to develop such a love.

6. Kudos for them for bringing attention to it..
..and thanks for posting. Our fellow mortals on this planet deserve better treatment. In the future they'll look back at the barbarism of fur and factory farming and be amazed at the compartmentalized brains we had at this point in our evolution.

8. animals are angels....
each and every one of them have a special place in ...'God's' heart, that is, if there's any truth to the rumour about the world being created with something beyond using up time in mind, by some omnipotent creator who did it all in SEVEN DAYS! We couldn't even get help to the buried kids in Haiti in 7 days, but that's just our boneheaded selfishness working, i imagine. Ironikally it's the rightwing conservatives, in their guise as the capitalist pigs of hishtory, who have dismissed concerns about the little honeys (hippopots and elderly milk cows especially warm my old heart:)) and made it ok to allow the almost incalculable suffering inflicted upon the ANGELS of the old timer by we overfed subterranean savages.

11. Not Tasmanian Devils though..
Which incidently are in severe danger because they are developing mysterious facial tumours. They're nasty little buggers alright but Linus Torvalds wants us to help 'em out. Okay by me.. But I've lived in the woods and I don't necessarily think all animals are "angels".. you get a big ol' grizzly bear on your ass or a polar bear or a sixteen foot mamba snake or a big white shark or.. Well, you get the idea. I love animals.. more or less.. but some of 'em I love at a distance.. preferably a far distance, thank you very much! I won't even go to Australia as they got too many mean snakes there. And India.. forget about it. A big ol' cobra snake come up through the toilet pipes.. wow! No thanks, honey. I'll dig 'em all at a distance and wish 'em well.

there use to be a DU'er named 'NewYarker99' who welcomed everybody (there were only few thousand members then) but she seems to have gone quiet. AAnyway, she'd undoubtebly say 'welcome' to you....Anyway, your mention of Tasm devils etc reminds me of incident long ago, when on a great laker I was reading Farley Mowat's 'whale fo the killing' and turned out a few crew were from Burgeo Newfoundland, where Mowat was living when the drunks shot the trapped whale. i was unconfortable to listen to them curse Mowat, who, as you know, was almost traumatised by the hideous cruelty towards the huge whale (at one point, he shoved the 60 plus ton animal and it moved for him)...I was sad that the guys were so defensive about it (the crowd in Burgeo included at least 3 of the crew)...I think most people think of critters as something that doesn't matter, but, like on the hm heinbecker, one guy approached me and told me he was horrified at what they had done-even when he hadn't actually shot at the whale, just allowing the others had created a lifelong regret, and he agreed with Mowat, though he wouldn't betray his mates etc.
Best idea is not to hurt animals unless it's necessary, then they forgive you. Our meat industry is gonna get all of us a noose on judgement day, i think

12. did you see so many of them shivering
this action took a lot of courage. I think they should be commended.

these were average people trying to make people stop and look, and think.

Maybe you don't agree that we shouldn't kill animals for their fur, but at least have some respect that they are doing something non-violent about it.

with all the gloss on the entertainment news... they went out there and sat in the cold, and in their underware. They said STOP, LOOK, and THINK

14. Isn't most of the problem attributable to over-poplulation.
I am referring to human beings, not all the other species. They have natural predators that keep them in control until humans upset the balance. I don't know how many human beings can crowd onto the planet with its limited resources before they turn on one another to survive after they have wiped out all the other species.
