Only two percent thought they went down. But the reality is taxes have gone down... for ninety five percent of working families taxes went down.

Think about that. Only two percent of the people in a "movement" about taxes named after a tax revolt have the slightest idea what's going on...with taxes.

New Rule: Restaurants have to finish making the salad. When I order a salad, don't bring me this (picture mixings of a salad). This isn't a salad, it's the ingredients for a salad. New Rule: Just because you 'can' get pregnant doesn't mean you 'must' get pregnant. The pregnant man is pregnant for a 3rd time. You know, if you have a beard and a mustache and you have a baby every 10 months, you're not a pregnant man, you're an Italian woman.

New Rule: Catholics can't make fun of mormons or snake handlers or any other religion until they admit Ash Wednesday is really creepy. On the other hand, it's nice when a Catholic priest smears something on your kid's face... and it's just ash.

New Rule: Just because the Scottish eat it - it doesn't make it 'food'.

The Obama Administration has finally lifted the ban on imported haggis - a Scottish dish made from sheep heart, liver & lungs, and simmered in the sheep's intestines. hmmmm... but we already have that here - it's called a hot dog. PLUS, their version looks disgusting while OURS is neatly pressed into the shape of a dog's hard on.

What I'm trying to say is 'buy American'.

New Rule: Stop calling the Tea Party phenomenon a 'movement'. To be a real political 'movement' you have to.., well, 'move' -- towards some specific legislative goal. The Suffrage Movement, for example, gained voting rights for women. The Civil Rights Movement outlawed discrimination against Blacks. And the Gay Rights Movement brought us the Winter Olympics.

But the Tea Baggers, they're not a 'movement'. They're a cult. And I'm going to prove it . . .

Now, uh, during the break, I took my usual cross-country roadtrip with Nadya and the octuplets - and everywhere we stopped along the way - diners, truck-stops, medical marijuana dispensaries. People wanted to talk about the Tea Baggers and know some basic things about them, like - Who's their dentist? and Why do they wear flannel in the summer?

But if you look at any cult, whether it be the Hale-bop Comet People, the Scientologists, or Oprah's Book Club - you'll find several common elements, the primary one being - cult members are taught to quickly withdraw into the group and distrust the outside world. Tea Baggers distrust everything. They think everyone's coming for their guns and they shouldn't pay taxes. They're like Wesley Snipes crossed with a fat old white guy who runs a landfill.

Folks. No one is coming for your guns, your Bibles or your fishing poles. And that's not a monster under your bed, it's the Ab Lounger you bought last year and never used.

Cults are also always driven by some ridiculous, unobtainable goal. Like a fiery apocalypse ringing-in 'Paradise' .... or deficit-reduction by way of giant tax cuts.

Now, you know someone has fallen into a cult if you see these signs:

1. Cults have their own vocabulary. Now, I don't speak Shit-Kicker... but I know in their world that 'freedom' means 'guns'... 'diplomacy' means 'weakness'.... 'elitist' means 'reader'... and 'socialist' means 'black'.

2. Cults tend to populate from within, encouraging members to have huge broods of children and to give them strange names like 'Moonbeam' and 'Trig'.

3. Cult members attribute all of their problems to one simple explanation. (picture of Obama - with Hitler mustache)

I must have been outvoted, but my when I recced the OP it went from +33 to +32--One step forward, two steps back.

Maher occasionally flubs, but usually hits the nail on the head. Teabaggers unaware of tax cuts--perfect irony; and I now have a good comeback for the "miss me yet?" movement.

I don't understand why you think this won't last. Even those of us who are highly critical of Obama's failures, and therefore obligated to let him know, and to rally like-minded people to let him know as well, still acknowledge his successes, and we certainly acknowledge that he is, at least, better than Bu$h. I may post a comment disagreeing with a pro-Obama post, but I've never unrecced such a post.

I don't understand why anyone unrecs a post simply because they disagree with it.

I think some folks have set up automatic 'un-rec' programs just to cause havoc - at least it makes sense to me. There are automatic sign-up programs to post ads, so why wouldn't someone from the other side do something to cause irritation in these parts. Plus it takes no time.

And as for the 'while it lasts' - I was actually talking about the video hehehheh - because the RealTime videos are known for being pulled down from YouTube very fast - so that is the reason I said that. You gave me a smile tho.

The Tea Party stuff is needed dialogue. The mainstream press won't cover it like Maher just did, and that's a sad fact of life.

In fact, this whole segment really sums up the tea baggers very, very well. Including the end part in which he states clearly that they are our relatives and neighbors, which means we're stuck with them and have to do something about it. Here's what we can do:

1) Change Medicare into a single-payer health care system for all.

They will go kicking and screaming until they find out it's actually a good thing, then they may just shut up when they get their fair share.

2) Raise taxes on higher incomes back to what it was under Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson or heck, even Nixon!.

When the economy stabilizes and everyone's not doing so bad, the followers of lower taxes will dwindle and the wealthy will continue to grumble in their mansions and fine cars. Or they may realize that with higher taxes, only smarter, more refined people can be rich and they can get rid of all the stupid people who have invaded their country clubs because of dumb luck and cheating.

3) Cut the military budget **big time** and put the money into education.

They will scream bloody murder, but once their kids get a real education then the kids will know enough to see that their parents are just full of it.

Long term plans are difficult for Americans, but it's the only way. But fuck all those tea baggers and their stupid bullshit. I've lived my whole life around their brand of stupidity and I'm sick of it!

26. The tax decrease would be more obvious if health care costs hadn't increased dramatically

I am not working atm. My wife's check has actually gone down because of increased health care costs. She is a teacher with a negotiated contract and scheduled increases. We can laugh at Teabagger's because they don't know they got a tax cut, but the joke is really on a lot of us.

Folks, please recognize this if you talk with those on the right, otherwise risk making yourselves sound like fools because you don't have access to their paychecks. In addition, tax cuts tax cuts tax cuts, f*#k that. We are defunding government and if you all want to play the tax cut game, know we are just screwing ourselves. Stimulus with tax cuts is also an epic joke. If you received a tax cut but the costs of groceries and health care rose more than the cut, then please tell me how there is more money in local economies. I agree a tax cut to the middle and lower classes is cool and the right direction overall, but it is hardly feels more than words. I get it that if the tax cut didn't pass our family would be even further in the hole, but you know what, if it wasn't so easy to give my last job to Russians, no offense, lotsa good folks there, and American labor received adequate protection, you know, like other countries do, we wouldn't want or need a tax cut.

It is rather pathetic, isn't it?

During the first year of an Administration whose figure head ran for the Senante saying that he knew "Single Payer Universal HC is the best and only logical solution to the health care crisis," we got no meaningful health care reform, but sham legislation that our elected officials bickered over all summer, autumn and winter. And now what we wil get is insuranc emandates with few oif any benefits tot he consumer.

And although the Middle incomed and lower incomed got marginal tax cuts, (which is very much appreciated), you are right - many who are employed saw less money because the employer deductions for insurance went through the roof.

And to top it off, Obama never gave the very needed speech - taxes need to rise on the upper four percent. If that speech had been made, and he had stuck to that premise, maybe we would not this week be fearing that the government will be making further cut backs in reducing already reduced services.

Already those tax cuts will be considered as being needed to go away. The rich say they don't want taxes to rise, but when it happens they don't mind -- as long as it is their employees and not themselves taking the hit.
