http://stopkennedysmears.com/ - Sign the petition telling History Channel that until they stop running politically motivated fiction as historical "fact," you will refuse to watch their programming.

Joel Surnow, a hard-right activist and former Fox News producer who supported Rick Santorum and is close friends with Rush Limbaugh, is the executive producer of an upcoming mini-series on the Kennedys that is character assassination of the most disgusting kind.

Unfortunately, in its desperate quest for ratings, The History Channel has decided to let fiction pass for historical scholarship. The History Channel has decided to push Surnows sleaze, degrading the accomplishments and trashing the memory of one of our nations most beloved families.

2. History Channel also aired another doc, "The Guilty Men," about the Kennedy assassination
for which they later apologized. They seem to be engaged in a concerted effort to smear JFK, LBJ, etc.

6. Boycott the Show
I think it is a good idea to sign the petition. However, I think it would be even better for everyone to boycott the show and encourage all your friends to boycott the show.

7. Fascist propaganda
The History Channel must be in dire financial straits if they are stooping to showing this kind of junk.

I remember Kennedy. I did not know him personally, but I clearly remember the time.

I do not believe in censorship, but I believe that even cable television has a duty to viewers to select programs responsibly. The History Channel should respect the judgment of these great historians, some of whom knew Kennedy personally, at least one of whom worked with him. That The History Channel is even contemplating showing this film makes me wonder who is selecting their programs and what criteria they apply. This film sounds downright dishonest.

Small historical errors are one thing. But I assure you JFK did not have the following he did because he was a weak man. Hitler, you know, rewrote a lot of the history of Germany and Austria. For example, he blamed the loss of WWI on the Jewish people. It sounds like this documockery is similar to some of the rewriting of history that Goebbels and Hitler did. No doubt Stalin did the same kind of historical revision. Why not stick to facts.

Kennedy's sexual escapades are old hat. We all have heard the scurrilous stories about him in that area. It's OK to broadcast unflattering truths, but it is not OK to broadcast a caricature that is not honest.

I must say that my husband and I, although not Bush supporters, found the movie W to be objectionable and obnoxious for the same reasons that this movie sounds objectionable and obnoxious. You can't put words in the mouths of historical figures that exaggerate their characters to an unbelievable degree -- especially when it is obvious that the exaggerations are intended for political effect.

Contrast this movie and the W movie with Michael Moore's 9/11 movie. Michael Moore took historical clips and told a story. That is an honest way to tell the story of modern presidents.

John F. Kennedy years as they should be represented and shows Ted for the great fighter he was. I think if more folks had read Ted's book there may not of been the MA result, his book would make a fine story for celluloid. It's more likely to get a wider audience than this other film too as he is more current in peoples memories and so much has been said on Jack Kennedy already. Come on James Cermon you have a spare few cents you can make a great film with just lunch money.
