3. Then you have nothing to worry about -- Mellencamp isn't a "soft rocker"
Edited on Mon Feb-15-10 08:19 PM by brentspeak
Stones-y rocker, more like it.

Seriously though, judging from his work with Farm Aid and other issues, a Senator Mellencamp would be the kind of pro-working-class Senator this nation needs more of.

11. Damn right, if a comedian can be a damn good senator in Minnesota...
Then damnit, a good rocker who speaks and sings for the people should also not be a bad man to stand up for us too!

5. Enjoy your asshat conservative republican then.
Mellencamp would be a great choice, IMHO. He's got name recognition, money to run a campaign, a great record with Farm Aid, and his heart's in the right place.

Or perhaps you'd prefer some former corn lobbyist to get elected and shove a little GM corn down your throat.

6. I would like to draft Paul Helmke
My former mayor. He is now the head of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Mellencamp has a lot of skeletons in his closet.

8. Well, if you consider Mellencamp to be "soft rock" then how about ......

...Senator Roth?

(born and raised in Bloomington)

14. Would you rather have another corporatist chosen by the party apparatus or someone
who speaks out about social injustice?

7. I wonder how many people will vote for him because they think
he is a hot older chick....

Seriously, is he thinking about running?

He would be a great populist and he is a dedicated progressive Christian if memory serves me right...

13. It's interesting that he played for Hillary's campaign along with (urp!) Evan Bayh!
Edited on Tue Feb-16-10 11:52 AM by cascadiance
And Evan Bayh afterward of course was making a lot of false promises in his speech here about taking back the country for "the people"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laxEO2bfsUI

So Evan, are you going to repay John Mellencamp's favor and endorse him to replace you?
