An explanation from the website www.robinhoodtax.org.uk :

The Robin Hood Tax is a tiny tax on bankers that would raise billions to tackle poverty and climate change, at home and abroad.

By taking an average of 0.05% from speculative banking transactions, hundreds of billions of pounds would be raised every year.

That’s easily enough to stop cuts in crucial public services in the UK, and to help fight global poverty and climate change...

Sounds good to me. Now, how about a US Campaign?

6. Sorry;
But the interview in real life would have been cut off long before the capitalist gave any concessions.

7. Can someone tell me what the "vice" tax rates are?
I'm thinking if we can tax cigarettes and other "objectionable" goods and services, both to inhibit their consumption or use, and to account for hidden social costs, then why the hell shouldn't we tax the financial lords for practices detrimental to the health of the economy, and society at large -- both to inhibit their practice and to account for the not-so-hidden social costs.

8. The rest of the world makes so much more sense than us.
They set examples. We slide backwards.

We are doomed.
