1. Mr. Tancredo and the Baggers should be first in line for those test, then ...
... since they're all such good Patriotic Americans, let them take the literacy tests too, before they get to vote.
Oh, wait. They wouldn't get any of the answers right! :P

4. Judging from the way they misspell words on their signs, most of the people
clapping in the audience wouldn't be able to vote, either.

Ironic, isn't it?

16. When people are hypocritical....
its almost always ironic, the shame is that they (the tea-bagged nation-still can't say that with a straight face:evilgrin: ) believe that they are in the right about this issue!

2. She's absolutely right
Tea-baggers not wanting to be called racists are like someone wearing a swastika
armband, yelling their hate for Jews, and being offended at being called a Nazi.

17. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck
its probably a fuckin' duck. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that these are the decrepid remnants of the despicable Jim Crow era. Do we really have to wait for one of these bastards to call Obama a nigger coon commie on live TV before the obvious racism is acknowledged?

When Tancredo is talking about people who cannot even spell 'vote' is it not obvious he is referring to black folk and minorities in general?

This is a group of people who are essentially powerless but for most of their history they always had someone to look down thier fat blood engorged nosed upon. But now that their is a black president its become apparent that the old order was swept away. Now they look around and realize finally that they are on the bottom with nobody to step on, but instead of focusing their anger on the people truly responsible for killing the American Dream they demand a return to the days of sport lynching.

As a consolation, I suppose in ten to twenty years most of these racist fucks will be food for worms (if they can stomach the unclean corpses of these hate twisted bitter people) but not before they spawn yet another generation of closed minded ignorant asses. And so it goes.

22. She wouldn't have to
if it were applied selectively- as one might expect it to be if it were administered by teabaggers.

5. For what it's worth...
the answer, (and I didn't have to look this up!), it takes two witnesses to bring legitimate charges to bear against an individual in the case of treason.

As far as state laws mentioned, I am baffled, as would anyone be at those questions.

Moving on to LBJ nad Civil Rights legislation...having lived through those years, (albeit in NYC), I can recall w/great pride that after a very long and painful fight, that LBJ signed into law one of the most important pieces of legislation this nation has seen. If for nothing else, LBJ should be seen in a far better historical light than what we usually see him in. Granted Vietnam was his Waterloo, but he moved this nation farther ahead in other areas that few seem capable of remembering.

Tancredo is an asshole...the party that was founded on the ideal that slavery should be abolished and equality was not based on the color of an individuals skin color has taken up the flag of bigotry and hoisted it higher than it has ever flown before. What was hidden is becoming overt, and the GOP has lost any sense of dignity; if they continue down this path, they seal their own doom.

10. How LBJ did it
It wasn't by trying to sweet talk some obstructionists into "bi-partisanship".

11. About "How LBJ Did It... "
"When you've got 'em by the short and curlies, their hearts and minds soon follow." :-) What a shame the horror of Vietnam destroyed this feisty guy.

18. Yep, but the average person would never know that.
The answer to the second question, IIRC would be 1924.

That state portion is absolutely absurd. The only way anyone would ever pass both together was if "Hell, I dunno." was an acceptable answer.

6. Can you imagine if THEY had to take a civics test?
Edited on Tue Feb-09-10 08:19 AM by veganlush
..I haven't heard any indication from any of them that they know what "socialism" is, although they level the term at people all the time. Do they know that by far the biggest part of every President's budget, including Bush and Reagan, is money for "socialism"?

If dems only had the guts to force a conversation on socialism, the Repugnants would have to go on record in favor of all kinds of socialist programs or face the wrath of the voters. Upon the inevitable admission, by republicans, of the absolute need for many of the current "socialized" programs, the ignorant tea-baggers heads would explode sending shit flying everywhere.

12. One of the best stories Rachel's ever done,
... to my way of thinking. In high school, we gave a paragraph or two to the subject of those literacy tests but NEVER had any real information that they were so horrific. I've bookmarked the YouTube link and will be forwarding it along.

What these idiot teabaggers have applauded absolutely MUST be answered, by calling them onto the carpet and dishing out TONS of humiliation. From sarcastic snobs/snots like MOI. So happy to oblige!

Rachel forgot to show the test white people had to take

1. What is 1 + 1
Answer a. 2
b. 1,234,394,034

Of course in some of those states 10% of the white people flunked this
test but were allowed to vote anyway

15. When she gets angry, stand back,
She really tears into an issue when her sense of injustice gets insulted.

Wish she would take on the the struggle of the reservations in North Dakota during their sub zero winter and ice storms. Keith mentioned it in Worst persons tonight.

23. FBI man Ward in Mississippi Burning said it best about these Tancredo type meetings
Edited on Wed Feb-10-10 08:45 PM by provis99
"Deputy Pell: You got no right to be here. This is a political meeting.
Ward: Doesn't smell that way to me, Deputy.
Deputy Pell: It's a damn political meeting, Hoover Boy.
Ward: Oh, it looks like a political meeting, but smells more like Klan to me... with or without the Halloween costumes. "
