1. Yeah but...
Wasn't this a GWB idea? Yeah, the GOP is crying about this one too. Another one of W's can't-say-no-to spending projects based on projected budget surpluses from the '90s? Whatever happened to the $5T worth of surpluses projected by 2009? Hmmm.

Time to move on and reallocate money back into NASA R&D projects that'll put America back into a leadership roll. Like SCRAMJET, Ion and Plasma engine technologies that can make a trip to Mars take 39 days instead of Moon based engine technologies that require 214 days.

2. Constellation might have had a chance if it wasn't the caricature of Republican efforts
Behind schedule, over budget, incomplete ... not likely to fly.

So, have I missed anything?

5. I do understand we need to be in space but...
need to pick ourselves off our ass first. Bush put us on it.

Or Obama would have to tie doing this into making jobs. He's doing this thru commercial companies and thats unique

Think there's a few actresses already signed up for a brief trip to space...

6. Great program and hopefully money will come to keep it going....
I was going to go on about the religious focus against science programs, and the mentality against exploring and using science to reach understandings about our world, but then it seemed a moot point.

7. Obama increased funding for NASA'S Earth Science program
After years of underfunding, Earth Science is the one NASA program that is getting a boost.

It is needed desperately.
