Summary: Cenk's second appearance on The Dylan Ratigan show was much shorter than (or his most recent ) as you'll see. Cenk wanted to explain that the time for 'soft' bipartisanship efforts is long past as they've proven useless if not damaging in many ways. on the other hand has shown to be quite effective, and it's desperately needed. Finally, there's no 'H' in Cenk, it's more like Jenk (and the misspelled last name is a slightly funny behind the scenes issue).

PS---Check out (and subscribe to) our new channel, . As the name suggests, it's all great interviews with the likes of Katrina Vanden Heuvel, Arianna Huffington, economist William K Black, Media Matters reps, various politicians, authors, journalists, reporters and much more.

1. K&R They should have him on TV more often.
And, I agree with Cenk. I have always been against "bipartisanship" because it doesn't work.

21. Everyone knows
what Cenk's message is. We all agree with him (and others) on this hugely important issue. Obama and Rahm know this also. It seems they are willingly ignoring this FACT. Why? IMO because they are part of the corporate powers and just want to put on a "good show." It is disgusting and I just sent another e-mail to the White House. I hope that already elected Progressives get fed up with this show. I want them to leave our Democratic party and start a "Progressive Party." Then they should do the peoples work and field candidates on a "people first" platform. Corporations are not people. If they lead, we will follow. Please, Progressive Caucus, save America. Bernie? Dennis? Alan? etc... Please lead us.

5. I agree with Cenk to an extent on this one.
When you think about it Obama is not really reaching out to the repukes,he is giving them the option of bringing ideas to the table instead of shouting "NO" like toddlers all the damn time as well as handing them their own shit on national television name by name and explaining to them how badly they screwed this place up for the past eight years. So either these idiots get in line, or I honestly believe that he will continue on without them.

9. Cenk's right once again.
Another problem with bipartisanship in today's America is that reaching out to Republicans effectively legitimizes their attempts to destroy the country as we know/knew it. The last thing we should be doing is helping Republicans pretend they're looking out for the welfare of the people, but that's exactly what happens when we reach out to Republicans.

Obama needs to stop pretending Republicans are even TRYING to fix the country they've done so much to deiberately ruin. He needs to just come out and say the country cannot afford to further destroy itself with failed policies. He needs to take the attitude that he will not negotiate with terrorists.

More "hard bipartisanship" for the win! I hope Ratigan is correct in his prediction, seeing Obama taking questions from Grayson, Kucinich and Weiner, just to name a few, would be awesome! It would need to be live on prime time national TV to make the necessary impact, though. And not just a unique event, either.

Thinking about it reminds me of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94mRNox5PsE">this legendary incident in the Bali climate change conference. When Papua New Guinea used hard diplomacy to force Busch's delegation into a u-turn.

However, I agree with Fire1sKid. Judging by the past week's events and what the President has said in his weekly address, I think he's now saying, "shit, or get off the pot".

12. The presidents main mistake...
The Presidents main mistake was to use the word bipartisanship. The re-pubs can then obstruct and say things like "we have ideas but you're not listening, you promised bipartisanship", etc and stall any forward momentum.
In their view its working; President Obama is fighting terrorists in a sense, they have very narrow selfish goals; to get back into power by convincing dumb voters to support them and keep others away from the polling place. What happened in Massachusetts was that voters stayed away and did not cast ballots, young people especially. Citizens MUST be engaged, then we may have a chance.

22. Thank you, Cenk!

Pres. Obama needs to stop
playing nice with politicians
whose primary goals are to
discredit him and bring down
his administration.

Bite back and fight back!
That's the ONLY thing these
jerks understand.

23. The Grassley example: We can/will use that logic against the repukes in November.
Play nice & "bipartisan" during 2009; point to their obstructionism in 2010.
It's started already with the SOTU and Obama's Q&A at the RepukeFest last week.

Proof will be in the pudding though.
