President Obama created history and a stir by requesting the Q&A portion before his meeting with the Republican House caucus be broadcast live. Normally this stuff is held behind closed doors. A room full of Republicans with all the slam dunk talking points they could muster lept at the chance but left the even licking their wounds. It was so bad Fox News cut from the live event early to head for their bunker. Fox's resulting spin was fast and furious.

Must See! Fox News' Alternate Reality On Health Care I tried posting this video, but YouTube is reporting 'Video not found,' please try again later (use the link below to view)

Fox News has worked overtime trying to spin President Obama's question and answer session at the Republican House caucus retreat. Here they promote the questions and talking points directed at the president but rather than play the president's response they prefer to have a Republican Senator spin a wild web of bull.

20. Yea, Good Move
But the funny thing is, even in the instant it takes you to pass that channel, you usually hear something that is either a lie, or makes no sense. I never watched Glen Beck on CNN Headline, but just passing the channel I knew he was an idiot, and would eventually end up where all fake journalists settle, FUX Use.

5. Far from useless.
They serve a valuable purpose in guiding the thinking of the American people.

They make certain the American people know that the Obama Administration is a tax raising, reckless spending, irresponsible administration that if left unchecked will destroy the nation.

They make sure the electorate understands the Obama Administration is weak on terrorism.

They tell the American people that the Obama Administration is a radical leftist, even socialist or communist administration with an agenda that threatens to transform the very nature of our democracy.

That is hardly useless. This information serves to illustrate that, while the Democrats and the Obama Administration are very bad for the country, the Republican agenda is very good for the country.

6. Man, I hope that was sarcasm.
The Obama Administration has not (IMO),been as "left of center", as they should. But to say the rethugs are better is bullshit. It is a great FOX strategy to have popular progressive shows like The Simpson's, Family Guy, etc..whose writers make fun of RW'ers at every opportunity. When they(FOX) are THE right wing propaganda machine...Ailes knows what he is doing to destroy USAinc.

I don't think a contributing member of DU with over a 1000 posts would write it if it wasn't sarcasm.

12. Yup, that's what they do.
Fixed Noise serves a valuable purpose for the powerful interests that actually do the country harm. The fact that Fox is the most watched "News" channel is particularly distressing.

A guy just called into C-Span's Washington Journal. He was quoting Charles Krauthammer. The misinformation that comes from Fox spreads far and wide.

15. Where is the sarcasm icon. The republicans have scared the shit out
of the poor people who follow them. One of those is my mother who is holed up in her house with guns and won't even let us come visit because we are democrats. She feels the "war" is going to start at any time in our country. Her and her boyfriend watch fox news all day and believe everything they say! I live in a very republican area and these poor people are scared too and beleive Obama is the anti christ and that the whole country will fall apart soon and then our world will end. I see nothing good with what the republicans are doing or saying. As people said you can say things but at some point you need to walk the walk and they didn't even walk the walk and what they did through our country into a tail spin.

18. And that's my point.
Edited on Mon Feb-01-10 02:33 PM by Enthusiast
The big advantage Republicans have is media control. Otherwise Democrats have every advantage. But we would never know it watching the "news".

It is sad about your mother. And she is just one of millions. The thinking part of their brains have been co-opted by Fox News. But, believe me, it isn't just Fox. The other networks are doing the GOP propaganda but in a more measured subtle way.

and not on the end of a rope? Treason is a serious offense.
For a commentator on Pox to accuse the President of being political while working at a major political propaganda outlet, irony doesn't even come close.
Like most neocons, Rove exhibits physical characteristics of a one nutted semi eunuch.

9. Fox News is making sure it does its part to destroy this country.
Glenn Beck may be right about us becoming a totalitarian/fascist state but not for the reasons he claims, ie, Obama's "socialist" agenda. It's because we've allowed corporations to take over, and the SCOTUS recent decision will only help accelerate the process. If the right wingers spent all that energy on addressing the actual problem instead of demonizing Obama, maybe we could figure out a way to join forces and fight back. We really are coming closer and closer to making the book 1984 a reality in this country. Our children will not live in the same country many of us grew up in, a land where the middle class prospered, where we believed in economic justice, liberty and opportunity for all.

doctors with their word smiths making up lies. What Rove said after was a lie. So that's how Faux spun it with the best liar they could find in Rove the spinning fool. He could make his mother believe in his lies. He should teach a class at Harvard, Call it Liars 101.

13. some comments
Edited on Mon Feb-01-10 09:00 AM by 90-percent
Whenever any righty uses the term "democrat party", instead of "democratic party" I immediately discount anything else they have to say as too slanted with too much propaganda spin and most importantly, they are trying in earnest to be as disrespectful as they possibly can.

The use of that phrase really turns me off.

140 to 1, Karl, and your guys can't even make their propaganda stick when they got Barack trapped in their living room.

They have to wait for disrespectful spin meisters to concoct something negative after the fact.

I hope the Democrats make note of the rights refusal in the future to host Barack in another forum such as this Baltimore Retreat. If they refuse, that means they don't have the courage of their convictions to go 140 to 1 against the President? Weak, very weak.

17. how will the more important talk radio gods spin it?
limbaugh and hannity will have all the talking points from the heritage foundation and other think tanks working over time through the weekend.

after a few weeks of that obama's slap down humiliation of the GOP will somehow be turned into a an arrogant president with microphones in his ears straight to david plouffe, lying to the nation and taking advantage of a polite and respectful GOP.
