CBS Rejects Ad from Gay Dating Website

CBS has rejected a Super Bowl commercial from a gay dating website called ManCrunch.com, saying it doesn't meet their "broadcast standards."

In a statement, the network said, "After reviewing the ad -- which is entirely commercial in nature -- our Standards and Practices department decided not to accept this particular spot." They added that it "is not within the Network's Broadcast Standards for Super Bowl Sunday."

The decision is in contrast to their choice to accept an ad from a pro-life organization featuring college football star Tim Tebow.

5. CBS should not run any of these ads
The Tebow ad is totally out of line for a sporting event and CBS should rethink this. I could care less because I don't watch the SB, but am getting a little tired of hearing about Tebow and how JC-like he is.

7. Personally, I think the ad itself is just too much and looks cheap...
It's just too much. And looks like crap. I think they just did it for the publicity with no intention to have it actually be aired.

11. "As a matter of general philosophy,though,

Now the whole country is the NFL.

13. I think it was a smart publicity stunt by the dating website - pretty much FREE!!!!

Sure, they paid for the 'expensive' production value of the video (hardly so) but think of all their audience - who would respond to this dissing (likely expected) by CBS? Well, their gay target audience would! and with emotional and determined energy. Yep, they reached their core audience and then some, and for nothing like the $millions$ it would have cost to actually run the ad.

CBS got their asses handed to them in bad publicity, and the website got their notoriety in spades - at literally no cost to their broadcasting budget (if there was one).

I can't wait to see who does this next year. It's genius, and has worked for Godaddy for years, intentional or otherwise.

14. I agree it was a pretty good move
No matter what they got the publicity and then didn't end up having to pay for it. CBS has been beating up on NBC for their bad moves, maybe they ought to watch their own back.
