AP - 29 January 2010: Former prime minister Tony Blair defended his decision to take Britain into war with Iraq, telling an investigation panel that he would do the same again if he had to.

1. In any sane world, that would be enough to get him crucified.

3. One thing I never understood about Blair and Bush's reason for going to war
Blair and Bush will defend their reasons for going to war in Iraq but they are never asked why they argue that "If there was any possibility he could develop WMD's they'd do the same thing." At the time, how many of the "Axis of Evil" nations already had them and why weren't they considered for invasion before Iraq ?

8. The logic at the time
was taken as being analogous to the threat from climate change/global warming. According to that school of thought, it was okay to act preemptively for the coommon good to prevent a greater catastrophy. With global warming, sea levels from the melting polar ice caps have yet to rise, and other such calamaties - so to act preemptively to prevent this from happening, activists advocate government remedial actions.

This form of logic as applied to the war on terrorism essentially meant that whatever could be imagined would justify appropriate military action. In the case of identifying the enemies of the West, the neo-cons took over crafting the worst case scenarios and the governments exploited their logic to justify preemptive military action.

If you are interested in exploiting this theory of preemptive action, I highly recommend the Adam Curtis series - The Power of Nightmares - a three part series that explores the governments' use of fear tactics to control populations and to get public support for actions not otherwise popular. The series can be found on this website
rewtube.com

Go to the bottom of the page to see the series entitled THE POWER OF NIGHTMARES - another great documentary that I recommend by Adam Curtis is THE CENTURY OF THE SELF on that same webpage.

5. Next, he can can give the same speech to an international tribunal in The Hague
. . . just before he's sentenced to thirty years in the slammer and just before Mr. Cheney and then Mr. Bush are asked for their respective pre-sentencing remarks.
