To Justify Hypocritical Attacks, Rudy Giuliani Claims The Shoe Bomber’s Attempted Attack Happened Before 9/11

Last month, conservatives attempted to politicize the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas day by complaining that President Obama waited three days before publicly addressing it. “The President waits 72 hours before we hear from him, and it’s over 72 hours from the time of the incident to the time that the President spoke today,” said Karl Rove on Dec. 28, not noting that his old boss waited six days before commenting on the 2001 attempted shoe bombing.

But conservatives are now claiming that he waited 10 days to respond. On CNN’s Larry King Live last night, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani claimed that Obama responded “10 days too late“:

GIULIANI: I think the president has to make a major correction in the way he is dealing with terrorism because I think he has mishandled the situation. First of all, it was 10 days too late. This is something you react to immediately, not 10 days later after your vacation. The president of the United States, when there is a potential massive attack on this country, which is what this guy was going to do, should have been on top of this immediately, not 10 days later, 11 days later, 12 days later.

When King pointed out that “President Bush took six days once in a similar incident,” Giuliani responded that “six days is less than 10″ and that he believed “that six days was before the September 11th attack.” King then clarified that “Bush waited six days on the shoe bomber,” to which Giuliani responded, “that’s correct.”

1. Guilliani is scum
I actually used to like this guy and really my biggest complaint in the last election was that he was a one trick pony and his whole platform was based on fitting "9/11" into any conceivable conversation, but he wasn't pulling this kind of crap.

Larry King is just pathetic. I love at the end when he finally remembers "it was the shoe bomber". Just sad.

3. I don't know if you lived in NY, but everyone I knew, hated the guy
and if 9/11 had not happened, he would have been on the trash-heap of political history. He is a lying, abusive, authoritarian, corrupt, anti-civil rights incompetent, ego-maniacal moron. I used to shake with fear when I would see Democrats calling him a hero. If he had ever made it to the WH, this country would never recover.

But that is not the worst of what he is. He is responsible in part for what happened on 9/11 and is definitely responsible for the loss of many lives, as for political reasons, he refused to acknowledge that the Fire Dept's communication equipment was faulty and to replace it. He is corrupt to the core and always was. The NYCFD despises him and many blame him for the tragic deaths of hundreds of firemen that day. I never saw him as anything but a cowardly opportunist who would do anything to have power over people. Other than his corrupt, convicted former '9/11 Top Cop' I'm not sure he ever got along with anyone.

When wingnuts used to 'threaten' me with 'Giuliani for President', I used to pray 'Oh, please, make him run' as that was the only way the media would have the courage to expose some of what he was really all about and end the outrageous claims that a coward like him was some kind of hero.

In the 9/11 hearings, the room, which was filled with the victims families, booed him when he tried to use up his time, patting himself on the back. I think most NYErs were horrified at the media adulation of this vile individual. He should have been prosecuted for criminal neglect at least for the way he dealt with the terror threat both before and after 9/11.

To see him, alone on CNN last night, gloating about the latest incident, slamming Obama, was nothing short of sickening. After all, the first tragedy made him a wealthy man.

I could go on, but in a civilized society, the media would have exposed this fraud a long time ago, instead perpetuating the lie, that this failure is some kind of expert on National Security. He failed NYC and then went on to profit from it. Last night he got to say '9/11' about ten thousand times.

Funny how he was present at the London bombing site also. There is nothing this ghoul would like better than another terrorist attack. His top cop, also lauded by the media as a 'hero' is now in jail. People I know in NYC laughed at the media when they presented these two con artists as 'heroes'.

Naomi Klein is so right about how easy it is to fool people after a traumatic event. But I really hope Americans are over that, as it will happen again some day and these predators will be right there once again, selling fear and making a fortune from it.

Shame on CNN for giving even a second to this worthless excuse for a human being.

5. I live in NYC and he was horrible
New York City was a Police State with personal freedoms being violated on alsmost every corner. Racial profiling? They would "randomly" search bags in every subway station. He's a fascist and a dictator, and obviously a liar.

19. Typical Republican.
There is no 'good' Republican. And many of them know this. That is why so many of them are now trying to be something other than Republican. Some of them are on DU. Some of them are trying to be teabaggers.

4. What a disgusting shill.....
Once again, I couldn't care less what this turd thinks about anything. Is the President the ONLY person in charge of security in this nation? I thought it was three days before he addressed the issue from his vacation in Hawaii?? Damn...those numbers keep growing.

Just what do these clowns seriously think he should have done?....ramble like a dumb ass, as was demonstrated by the last clown that slept in the White House? I sort of like the idea he found out the facts before he blew his comments out to the public, and hey...he didn't even pound his chest and say "bring it on". Good God. Help us, please!!

8. Oh I get it....
The republicans are now just using openly known lies to feed their mindless drones. If Larry King has 1 million viewers I bet at least 50,000 people walked away from that interview believing Rudy's lies. What a shame, not only are we up against a hateful opposition but were up against ones that also lie and distort facts.

12. Yep, it is very clear that the Republican party wants to be lied to.
It is as though the republican party took some kind of pledge to simply believe and repeat anything that they hear. I think we all watch the Rachel Maddow's of the world and the Keith Olberman's revealing lie after lie and hope that they will somehow realize that they are being lied to and change their point of view. The sad thing is that the truth is irrelevant with these knuckle draggers. They thrive in an environment of willful ignorance.
