4. Wes hit the nail on the head
Obama was never going to do anything different because that was his record. Why are any of us surprised now?

then, I looked at his record and his background. I am happy I didn't vote for him. I voted for McKinney, since she represented more of what I believed in. Obama, I couldn't believe in.

7. I'm not sure though, if I remember right he initially did want to try all detainees...
Edited on Wed Nov-25-09 02:56 PM by ProgressOnTheMove
but no-one would accept the Uighur detainees that were from China back to their country of origin and then some of public opinion was so hostile to the potential of some going free that he put some into military trial bracket. Basically from the way I see it Pres. Obama would of not liked to deal with this but was left with judicial nightmare that was probably even giving Bush a headache before leaving office and happy to hand it to Obama. Definitely he should of been stronger or bolder but this would of turned icky for whoever we had elected to office. Only a miracle worker could of got what we'd of ideally wanted with forces stacked against him and climate of fear that has been created by right wing media. It can be corrected with time and most likely not under Obama's tenure but it's going to take a long term project for greater awareness and helping some folks to become less fearful of terrorism as a whole as in the end it will always exist in some form or another the main thing to win over it is to live peacefully regardless of it to win over terrorism as a whole. The fact the right feel they need so many guns to feel safe is just one example how irrational it can make a certain people if their buttons are pushed. No war can win over terrorism only a will to live full freedoms and willingness to engage enemies verbally over forcefully.

I'm not giving him a pass it's lousy, but it is where we are for now with no easy solutions. Releasing the Chinese detaineess well I say Judy Chu 2016.
