Ever since the tax day tea party march on Washington, smaller teabag protests have been popping up all over the country. The only problem is that these protestors don't really know what they're protesting. Some think they're opposed to government spending, others say they're protesting Obama's plan to take away their health insurance, and there are still some out there who believe they're protesting to force Obama to release his birth certificate. Luckily, our good friend Brad Friedman from The Brad Blog caught up with some of these protestors recently and found out what, exactly, it is that they're so mad about, and he spoke with Mike Papantonio about what he found out at these protests.

1. Tea Partiers are the American equivalent of...
the older generation Russians who want to go back to the Soviet times. They can't let go. Just an observation.

What a moronic comment - biased, right wing stupidity from the outset.

5. Actually, I think the comment is quite valid.
Humans accustomed to authoritarian mindsets generally panic when set free.

6. Why are you attacking the other DU poster like that?
The other poster made a simple observation. In fewer than 30 words, you let fly with "fuck," "moronic," "stupidity," and an all-caps double-exclamation-pointed "STUPID!!"

DU works better when people can have civil discussions and can post without being subjected to insult.

7. Didn't anyone ever teach you manners?
If you disagree with someone, there is a way to state one's disagreement civilly. Please learn how to do it or leave.

the blam is placed on those providing them the information. It's less likely to make them defensive and in some cases question where they get their information, not in all cases but at least some.

3. Excellent bradblog.com coverage of the teabaggers.

I expected the teabaggers to be nitwits (they were) and the pro-HCR protesters to be informed (they were), but what I didn't expect to see were the dozens of cops surrounding the handful of pro-HCR protesters and ignoring the hundreds of bussed-in teabaggers.

The teabaggers kept talking about losing their freedom of speech, but at the end of clip 2, the teabagger guy explained that cops were all over on the pro-HCR side because those protesters were yelling at the teabaggers. They were yelling stuff like, "What do we want? Healthcare. When do we want it? Now." Something like that. Generic protest rally stuff. I guess freedom of speech only applies to Fox News viewers.
