1. K&R
In fighting two extended wars simultaneously Bush also greatly over extended the military.

2. In a word.... NO
Blaming Bush is as dumb as blaming Obama.

Why not blame religion? That seems to be the root problem.

Yeah - I think that's fair. The main thing I see is that the Army chain of command was pretty oblivious to this guy being unstable and troubled. And I think they are that way ON PURPOSE because they are so hard up for bodies signing up to serve these days, as well they should be, considering how abusive and inconsiderate they've treated those enlisted. I have been especially appalled at how they treated the reserve and National Guard. Those people probably already served, at least some, and then they get called to do "hard time" in hot war zones in Iraq And Afghanistan for multiple repeated tours!

It's amazing how many of our own American lives were injured or destroyed for these wars I consider to be nothing more than acts of treason. Lying to the world to conduct an unnecessary war is the ultimate act of treason, but what the fuck, everybody running American Institutions doesn't give a shit about anything other than their own delusions and greed, anyway.

Stupid and sociopathic is a rotten way to go through life. Even if you do get "elected" to two terms.

PS - Thom - I always play your links. Thanks for your work. Might want to beef up that post count, though......j/k!

4. exactly what I have been thinking all along. So many big egos say we must
fight terrorism, but that just feeds it. I say you ignore terrorism. You say survival is the best revenge, instead bush decided to bleed our country dry with a war or two and that is not survival. It is equal to if someone steals your tv and computer, you burn down your house in response. Best just to go out and buy a new tv and computer, it is a lot cheaper.

5. This seems obvious to me.
And in the end exactly what Osama wanted....to draw us in and make him a key player on the world stage.
You got it right Thom, and many of us know it.

6. I have been saying that for a long time too...

...except I have been using the Charles Manson comparison. Manson thought that by writing "pigs" and such in blood, the crimes would be attributed to black militants and so would touch off "Helter Skelter",
the race war which, at it's conclusion, would leave blacks triumphant but leaderless, which would be the cue for him and "the family" to emerge from their dessert hiding place to assume the mantle of leader. The prosecutor and law enforcement and the people at large didn't buy it, however, and they were treated as the criminals they are, just as Mcveigh was handled by Clinton. If Clinton would have blamed the Murrah bombing on christian white gun owners, it would have elevated Mcveigh's status to that of a movement leader at least in the eyes of some, types that think along the lines of today's tea-baggers for example. Bush waged war on Islam and elevated the organized crime syndicate called "al quieda" to heights it should not have achieved with all kinds of blood and other treasure lost in the process.

9. this is ridiculous
how partisan can you be? blaming bush for this is just ridiculous. this is like blaming Obama for the financial melt down. i can't stand watching the republicans be this partisan but i can't stand to watch us do it. either. i thought we were the level headed ones who think things through.
