MSNBC Countdown w/ KEITH OLBERMANN - 2 November 2009: Keith interviews Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) on latest developments on health care reform.

OLBERMANN: "Did you... find it telling in that little clip we just played of Sen. Lieberman where he said that the 'government going into the health insurance business is such a mistake.' This really does mainline back to the fact of which state he represents and who his largest campaign contributors are, does it not?"

GRAYSON: "There are hundreds and hundreds of people in Connecticut who will live if this bill passes and hundreds who will die if it does not."

OLBERMANN: "It can't be more bluntly stated than that."

2. The Democrats could end the Republicans' argument that this bill
is about cutting Medicare by cutting any changes to Medicare out of the bill. Those changes should be considered in a completely separate bill at a later time.

10. I'm not so sure that would be a very good idea.
What I learned yesterday on Thom Hartmann is that the cuts are for Medicare "ADVANTAGE", which is the corporate "plan". Cuts to that *should* be done, because they are taking Medicare money, and giving patients and doctors *less*.

I didn't know this before I heard it on Hartmann, and he didn't know it before either. So, if this is true, those cuts need to go through.

6. Just go away, Joe.
You're tiresome and obsolete. Time to retire from politics and get your own Fox News show.

7. Love Grayson ... and re getting corporations out of our elections, he said something
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 12:52 PM by defendandprotect
interesting the other day about an alternate way to do it ...

which would be to count registered voters and give a $1 for each one to the

candidate, thereby freeing them from having to beg for corporate support.

Combined then with free TV/radio time --

Of course, it would be preferable to officially ban corporations from any involvement

whatsoever in our elections -- but his suggestion may be a way to move public

financing and begin taking back government?

I hope he gets some more questions on this issue and that other politicians will,

as well.
