Now some good news. The public option's alive and kicking -- it may not be what you dreamed of -- but it's worth a cheer that it's not plain dead.

1. Victory?

not trying to sound like a stinker here,

But if we consider this healthcare reform bill a victory, then we are in trouble.

States can opt out. So huge amount of us who live in Red states will be screwed.

But not that any of that matters one bit anyway, because most of the public, won't be eligible for the "public option" anyway even if your states opts-in.

If you already have insurance, and are being screwed and going bankrupt, then you are not eligible. Only those with no insurance at all will be eligible.
So where is the competition??
Wasn't competition one of the main purposes of a public option?

How can there be competition when average americans cannot join the "public option"???

So now, we get a bill with a "public option" that red states can opt-out of and 80-90% of us won't be able to join.
And to top it all off, We will be mandated to buy insurance??

REFORM?

I could have understood a small compromise, but HOLY MOLY!!! Just give the insurance companies everything they want why dont you.

France, Italy, and other countries are laughing at us right now.

And they are laughing hardest at those who are claiming victory for healthcare reform.

SINGLE PAYER NOW!!!
SINGLE PAYER NOW!!
Or at least a public option that we are able to join if we choose.

Your idea is quite similar to one I posted in another thread.

The insurance lobby is laughing the hardest.

The Public Option as presented so far is a sham.
